Fur Free Oakville
December 12, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

We will all meet at the Town Square across the street from Barrington’s at 2pm
Barrington’s has reconsidered selling dead animal fur! Paul (the owner) came outside last event (4th event) and agreed to no longer purchase fur in exchange for us not to hurt his business further. We gave him a break last week and went to Burlington and I am currently in emails with him. I want a written contract. Not just empty words!

They have been around from generation to generation and were actually built on fur so if we are able to get them out- you can imagine the rest will follow!

SO many people already signed the petition right in front of their store!
If I don’t get a written contract soon- We will be relocating right in front of the store again.
They also actually have vegan down and Paul agreed that they clearly know that times are changing and that they can still offer high quality and fashionable items without cruelty and animal exploitation. But that he felt he didn’t have enough options from the fashion designer for his type of “quality” industry.
I will ensure to find him enough brands and solutions. If anyone has any extra ideas please suggest away!

There will be signs for everyone but we are trying to focus as much as possible on all having clipboards mainly focused on drawing people in for signatures to Ban Fur From Ontario
While engaging with the public, we will please engage with kindness.
We really want people on our side!
One of the easiest ways is to treat the people you interact with as if they are children (not obnoxiously!) that don’t know any better and outreach compassionately, being understanding that everyone is at a different place in their journey and has had different conditioning based on the environment they were raised in. Make it like a game! Become a recruiter of friends!

We can chose to be equipped with a clipboard
the petition to sign, give some outreach cards to public, hold a sign, smile and wave to draw people in… etc.
Don’t worry there are roles for everyone!
The goal will be to have as many interactions as possible, handout as many leaflets and cards as possible, and get as many signatures as we can, maybe even recruit a few vegans while tag teaming like champs!

Let’s make this fun!
We know that what is happening to the animals is really unfair, cruel and heavy.
So let’s stay light for them, for us, for the overall energy of the group!
We can make a huge impact downtown Oakville!
(The projector will not be playing this time because it won’t get dark before we are done!)
But we can still of course incite people to #ZipOffTheFur and I’ll bring scissors in case

Oakville is a super affluent town and if we leave some good impressions, we will get the results we are looking for!
Canada can become fur free before next winter!!!

At the end of the event, we can all enjoy some awesome vegan food somewhere (Dar Nabati, Community, Lettuce Love, Boon Burgers…) for whoever is interested
