Toronto Slaughterhouses Exposed
The team that brings you Toronto Slaughterhouses Exposed has joined forces with the SAVE Movement and are now known as the SAVE Outreach Squad (SOS)! Our goal is to build a strong outreach community that will support all AR activities in the GTA! Check out our FB page! St. Clair and Keele is where we started and it will remain our signature event as long as innocent animals suffer and die just around the corner..
There are currently three slaughterhouses remaining in Toronto: Maple Leaf Chicken Slaughterhouse, St. Helen’s Cow Slaughterhouse, and Ryding-Regency Cow Slaughterhouse. For several years, activists have been holding vigils at the slaughterhouses but for the most part, the public passing through this neighbourhood have no idea that they are still operating. On September 19, 2015, we changed all that! 65 of us lined the intersection at St. Clair and Keele holding signs that named and pointed to the slaughterhouses and demanded an end to the killing. The response was overwhelming! Once they knew the truth, people honked, waved, gave thumbs up, and peace signs. They took leaflets and asked questions. We have continued this presence on the second Saturday of each month as well as every Tuesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 am. More and more people are becoming aware of the nightmare for animals ‘Just Around the Corner’.
Our goal is simple – to engage with every driver, passenger, and pedestrian who passes through the neighbourhood and expose them to the animal death camps hidden behind the homes and stores. We believe that the knowledge of these atrocities taking place so close to home will have an impact on the public, forcing them to think about the injustice behind it all and join us in the fight to close all slaughterhouses!
Please join us!
All signs and leaflets will be provided-just bring your energy! Not only will you raise awareness about the suffering of animals but you will also have fun and go away feeling hopeful that our efforts are reaching people and making a difference!
