Inside Fur – Free Documentary Film Screening + Director Q & A

August 29, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Inside Fur follows an activist undercover in Europes fur farm industry. Through hidden camera interviews and footage we gain an insiders view of the fur farm underworld.

Posing as an individual interested in starting out in the fur farm business, the films star is accepted by the industry as one of their own and gains unbefore seen access to a world kept hidden from the public. At constant risk of being exposed, this double agent does the unthinkable to remain undetected.

Inside fur is one of Norways most controversial and talked about award winning documentaries. It has sparked debate and forces the viewer to ask themselves: “what are we allowed to do to animals?”

After the screening, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions to the films director – Ola Waagen (via Skype) and discuss in more intimate detail the controversy this film has ignited.

As part of the provincial campaign to #EndFurFarming, KOALA will lead a discussion following the Q & A regarding the current state of fur farming in Ontario and what individuals and organizations can do to help impletment a ban on the cruel practice of fur farming.

After the discussion, KOALA will lead a candle light procession from the Library to Kitchener City Hall where will be holding a vigil for animals vicitimized by fur farms. (details to be announced).

Film Description:

A group of activists work for years exposing the true face of the fur industry. They visit hundreds of fur farms and publicized the images. It causes public outrage, but the industry’s PR department always calms the politicians and journalists, and nothing changes.

So, a new activist decides to steps up. He tells the fur industry that he plans to become a fur farmer. He is accepted and soon treated as an insider. Without anybody knowing, he films his training with a hidden camera.

Inside Fur is one of Scandinavia’s most discussed documentary films in the last years.
