Blessing of the Animals

Hi everyone! The lovely Sharon discovered this was happening at St. James Cathedral in downtown Toronto on Saturday September 30th so let’s go show some love for the animals who are not recognized in the church such as cows, fish, pigs, foxes and chickens!

Typically at a Blessing of the Animals members of the congregation will bring their fur family into the church to be blessed or bring a photo of a fur baby from home. Billions of animals are sadly not recognized in this ceremony yet so let’s bring some beautiful photos of them to the church!

We are there to be a presence outside on the sidewalk to educate and engage with folks using posters and some vegan goodies from Kelly! We could also do some chalking too!

If anyone has the Honoring God’s Creation leaflets or any Christian vegan literature please bring it!

As a Christian myself I feel it is necessary for the communities of faith to be leading the way regarding compassion and respect for all nonhuman animals living in a nonviolent world filled with peace, love and justice for all beings! Let’s take this opportunity to express this to them!
