Canada/ Nuit Debout in front of Toronto slaughterhouse

September 26, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Activist in charge : James & Jennifer Oso, in collaboration with Toronto Cow Save.

269Life Libération Animale : “Nuits Debout” in front of slaughterhouses: Instructions to follow & proceedings of the event:

The french antispeciesist and abolitionist organization 269Life Libération Animale is preparing for the second time “Les Nuits Debout devant les abattoirs” (Silent vigil at night in front of slaughterhouses).

It will take place from the 26th September around 6pm to the 27th September around 5am (slaughterhouses opening time). This is a citizen action which wants to spread a large message and which wants to bring public and media attention to the animal holocaust that is tolerated by our society.

The antispeciesist movement, 269Life Libération Animale does not aim for better welfare for the animals but the abolition of livestock farming and exploitation which are undefendable.
This action is legal and will stay on the slaughterhouses entrance (roads or pavement areas, not in the private perimeter of the slaughterhouse) for a silent and static vigil.

You are very welcome to join us and to stay one hour, two hours…etc or the entire night. For safety reasons, the vigil groups have to be built of at least 10 activists. It’s not a blockade of slaughterhouses or the trucks (like 269Life Libération Animale often do). The organization abandons all responsibilities if this instruction is not respected.

Readings can be prepared (text reading, witness statements, discussions…etc). You will be able to leave words, notes, flowers for the animals – to make a “269” with candles. You will be able to leave portraits of the victims. (We have many animal portraits which have been taken during our slaughterhouse blockades on our Facebook page, or use your own). Finally, you could observe a minute’s silence to pay tribute to the animals at every fixed hour.
We’ll be in front of a place where individuals lose their life. We want you to be respectful and calm in a solemn atmosphere. (No music, no megaphone, no picnic).

A banner of the organization will be brought to you. Signs and visuals have to contain abolitionist messages or animals’ tribute messages. Please avoid bringing signs of other organizations as much as possible.

Media communication will be carried out by 269Life Libération Animale. Activists at each slaughterhouse ahould be prepared to respond to potential interviews on site. We wil be giving the press communiqués to the editorial boards in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, United States and all the other countries participating, in orderf or the message to be uniform and clear.

On site, an or several activist(s) will be responsible for taking photos and videos. All the photos & videos have to be posted on the main Facebook page of the event.

In the event of disruptions by livestock farmers or slaughterhouse employees: please remain calm. To the extent possible, avoid responding to verbal attacks. If there’s a problem, you’ll be able to message Tiphaine Lagarde (co-president of 269Life Libération Animale), Annie Bali, Romain Cassius, Vivi VeganGhost or Romain Perdrizet on messenger.

Thank you for your understanding.
