Climate Vegan at the World Cup

Toronto has been hosting the World Cup of Hockey Tournament featuring teams from all over Europe and North America. It began on Sept. 17 and ends on Oct. 1. Now you don’t have to like hockey to see that we can use this spectacle to take advantage of tens of thousands of people and media from all over the world, to deliver a message of hope for the planet and animals! In addition to hockey, the Distillery District area has been turned into a Fan Zone which is hosting all kinds of activities including concerts and a huge screen televising all the games.

The Climate Vegan plan is to link this world sporting event to another world issue, Climate Change. We will hang Cowspiracy banners from various bridges around the ACC and the Fan Zone during the finals. We will also distribute and hand Cowspiracy leaflets and Vegan Outreach’s Compassionate Athletes leaflet.

Last week, we reached thousands of people leaving the Finland – Sweden game and arriving for the Canada – US game, through our signs and leaflets.

Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 27 and 29 from 6-8pm as fans arrive for the first two game of the best of three championship series. If a third game is necessary, we’ll go again on Oct. 1, 5-7pm.
