End Fur Farming Weekend of Action
Welcome to the #EndFurFarming Weekend of Action!
Check out our End Fur Farming webpage!
http://www.koala.work/
Join people from across the province and beyond in demanding a complete Ontario-wide ban on fur farming. Whether you want to stop animal cruelty, protect the environment, or want to see your tax dollars stop going into the toilet – this weekend has something for everyone!
Below is a list of five #EndFurFarming demonstrations in Southern Ontario. The dates and times of these five protests have been staggered so that people have the ability to attend each demonstration. Join our collective group as we travel across the province from fur farm to fur farm throughout the weekend or feel free to attend a demonstration in your area.
We are also asking for people or organizations outside the region/outside Canada to hold solidarity demonstrations at fur farms and/or at Canadian embassies in their own area/country (North America fur farm map below).
Some demonstrators will be camping out overnight at the Elora Gorge Conservation Area on Sat, May 27th. This will be a great oppurtunity to network with others and coordinate future anti-fur actions. We are asking people to book their own campsites – booking reservations start on Wed, March 1st. Book early to insure a spot! Bring you own food & campng supplies. Link below:

The issues:
Fur farms are the puppy mills or our era. Foxes, minks, and chinchillas spend thier lives in confinement and frustration in filthy wire cages breathing in poison gas from thier own feces and urine. These local farms are in operation across Ontario. There are no government inspections, no regulation, no accountability, and no protection for these animals.
Confining and killing animals for a frivolous clothing decoration can not be justified and the majority of Canadians support a ban on fur farming. As countries across the world implement fur farm bans, the government of Ontario continues to allow the fur industry to run amok unchecked – leaving animals to be vicitimized (There are approx. 60 fur farms in Ontario).
YOUR tax money is directly supporting animal cruelty. The Federal and Provincial governments have spent millions of dollars subsidizing Canadian fur farms and issuing grants for fur “research” at institutions like the University of Guelph. This waste of our tax funds is a slap in the face to real struggling farmers who are going belly up while the fur industry rakes in huge profits.
Fur farms are a direct threat to the environment. Waste, carcasses, and run off from these farms have destroyed watersheds across Nova Scotia – putting human and animal heath at risk. Advocacy by water protection groups and the David Suzuki Foundation lead to the implementation of the Nova Scotia Fur Farm Act which imposes environmental regulations on these farms. Ontario has no such regulation leaving our waterways at risk of contamination.
If you want to stop animal cruelty, protect the environment, and want the government to stop wasting your tax money – please join us to demand a complete Ontario ban on fur farming.
