Justice for Animals: Anti-Seal Hunt Demo
Every year, close to a million seals worldwide are slaughtered in the name of fashion.
During Canada’s annual commercial seal hunt, as many as 400,000 seals under the age of three months are shot, bludgeoned and often skinned alive in order to slice the fur off of their bodies leaving the dying seal pups on the ice to die a slow and painful death.
Canada’s seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine animals in the world and often faces harsh criticsm of the unspeakable cruelty that harp seals are subjected to.
“The IFAW also charges that seals are often “skinned before being rendered fully unconcious” and said its observers found that few sealers check for blinking relfex to confirm brain death before skinning begins. Similar skinning alive accusations have also been made by other groups, with many citing studies claiming that up to 45% of seals are skinned alive.”

The sealing industry claims that it is killing more seals due to the increase in demand for fur. Even though the U.S banned the sale of fur in 1972, anyone wearing the fur of minks, rabbits, foxes, coyotes or any other animals today is responsible for creating the demand for fur which pushes canadian hunters to slaughter seals each year.
Please join us as we speak up against this extreme violence. Our goal is to expose Canada’s shame and to create awareness to those that have not realized that this trade exists in our country.
