VICTORY FOR ANIMALS SOCIETY
Event Press Release
Victory for Animals is excited to announce their “Paws to Parliament” Rally. Ottawa, Ontario, September 14th, 2016 at 11:00 am. The rally will start at centre block on Parliament Hill where we will meet with staff members of Nathaniel Erskine-Smiths. After our meeting we will proceed to walk with banners and posters down to City Hall.
We will be accompanied by children with disabilities from Sunny Days Day Program and from Community living Campbellford and Brighton we will also have associated animal interest groups and public service supporters all on-board in an effort to raise awareness of the important issues outlined in Bill C-246 and increase Parliamentary support to pass this legislation.
The rally on Parliament Hill aims to educate Members of Parliament, voters, and all Canadians about the upcoming final reading of Bill C-246 in the House of Commons.
Bill C-246 is a private member’s bill sponsored by Nathaniel Erskine-Smith Liberal MP for Beaches—East York (Ontario).
This will end importing dog and cat fur from China where the animals are skinned alive. It will also put an end to the brutal shark fining that is being practiced in our own waters and being shipped in from China. The bill will also help place animal abusers in jail for lengthy sentences.
Nathaniel Erskine-Smith is quoted “The purpose of this bill is to take a step toward bringing Canada’s animal welfare laws into the 21st century.”
