Toronto Fish Save First Vigil

Toronto Fish Save is launching!!

Join us Friday April 26th for the worldwide Save Movement’s first ever aquatic animal vigil. The World Day for the End of Fishing inspired activists in Toronto to create a group that would focus week in, week out on the oppression of aquatic animals. This is the beginning of that journey and we need you there!

Our launch vigil will have two components:
The first will be held at Sobeys Urban Fresh, a downtown grocery store that sells many kinds of pre-slaughtered aquatic animals as well as LIVE lobsters. We will bear witness to the animals already killed and the lobsters that are condemned to death.
We will then march 1km to the second location, Ripley’s Aquatic Prison. Here we will have a candlelight vigil in memory of the animals already killed by this facility and in protest of those currently being held captive.

Toronto Fish Save vigils are different from vigils held at slaughterhouses for terrestrial animals. We will focus on locations where the oppression and exploitation of aquatic animals occurs in various forms. Grocery stores, fish farms, aquariums and zoos, “seafood” festivals, pet stores, hunting and fishing conventions are examples of places where TFS will host vigils and do outreach.
