Toronto Letter Writing Day For Martin Smedjeback

November 19, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 pm

On October 4th 2017 Swedish activist Martin Smedjeback was sentenced to one month in prison for charges resulting from two life saving direct actions carried out with other activists from Tomma burar : the liberation of a salmon during the summer of 2015, and the liberation of four turkeys in the summer of 2016.

Martin will be serving his sentence in Tillberga, outside of Västerås in Sweden, where letters and postcards can be sent in an effort to help make his prison term as smooth as possible. If you have the time and resources -and most everybody does- please write.

Martin Smedjeback, Box 1133, 721 28 Västerås, Sweden.

Just as animals do not want to be slaughtered, highly engaged activists do not want to suffer punititive repercussions from the State for their actions without support from their communities. Prisoner support has historically played a key role in the animal liberation movement, yet it is sometimes overlooked. Let’s not let Martin or the animals down. Send a letter or postcard, and PLEASE familiarize yourselves with the cases of other incarcerated animal activists, some of whom are serving very substantial amounts of time in prison for compassionate acts of consience.
