Not only does it jeopardize our ability to offer the pigs comfort and compassion\, in their final terrifying moments\, it takes away the right for activists and journalists to expose inhumane conditions and cruelty within the animal agriculture industry. \nAnimal Justice will be taking on the daunting task of challenging this Bill in the Ontario courts. In order to assist with their fight\, this fundraiser is aimed to raise proceeds that will be donated to Animal Justice to help make this challenge possible. \nTHE TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS WILL RECEIVE A TORONTO PIG SAVE SWAG PACKAGE! \nThis event will take place\, rain or shine\, so be sure to watch the weather and dress accordingly. Bring a hat\, gloves\, jacket\, blankets\, umbrella and picnic basket! (Please\, no alcohol or other recreational substances.) \nWe will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however you will have the option to bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. \nTHOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED TO ATTEND will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however we will also bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. DESCRIPTION:Join us (registration now closed\, but join us online) as we take action against the Dairy Industry once again\, in our Dairy is Scary event series! \nThis month\, we will be taking a field trip to a local dairy farm. Dairy farmers online have been claiming that animal rights activists are disconnected from the reality of “farming.” A dairy industry spokesperson even invited activists to visit dairy farms on her debate with Camille Labchuk on TVO’s The Agenda (https://www.tvo.org/video/programs/the-agenda-with-steve-paikin/whos-minding-the-farm-animals). \nThere is no humane way to steal a baby’s milk from their mother\, and we will be visiting the victims of this violent industry to show that. \nWe will protest the farm on public property\, and a small\, select team will enter the farm to document\, bear witness\, and hold a short vigil for the calves and mothers. \nWe have low-risk (green team) and high risk (yellow team) roles for this action. Due to the nature of this action being out of town\, we will be arranging carpools to ensure everyone gets to and from the action safely. \nThe action at the farm will be followed by a workshop at a nearby location and community meal. \nAnother world is possible. DESCRIPTION:The Niagara Federations of Agriculture have announced their first FARM DAY in Niagara. \n“Niagara Farm Day organizers hope this event will become an annual opportunity for families to spend time learning about Niagara agriculture and its important contribution to our food supply and the local economy. \n Visitors to Niagara Farm Day will be able to visit with a number of primary producers who will each have a display featuring the primary focus of their farm. This will include dairy\, bees\, horse\, beef\, grains & oilseeds\, flowers and more. Plans are also under way to allow visitors to experience a virtual reality tour of a farm with technology supplied by Farm & Food Care.” \nWe don’t want this to be an annual event so let’s go down there in huge numbers. The only way to make this uncomfortable for them is to be there all day. You are more than welcome to stay the whole day but for those who can’t please pick a time slot that works for you to attend. During the public viewing of the film\, we will also take turns engaging in leafleting to combine a vegan social with activism. \nFilm Synopsis: “What the Health” is a groundbreaking feature-length documentary from the award-winning filmmakers of “Cowspiracy”\, that follows the exciting journey of intrepid filmmaker\, Kip Andersen\, as he uncovers the impacts of highly processed industrial animal foods on our personal health and greater community\, and explores why leading health organizations continue to promote the industry despite countless medical studies and research showing deleterious effects of these products on our health. \nWe will need volunteers to show up about an hour in advance of 12 (around 11) to help with set-up of the screening. DESCRIPTION:Join Toronto activists\, in conjunction with PETA as we demand the cancellation of the Gone Fishin’ event scheduled to begin on June 10. The photo above was taken last year on the day the pool was drained and the fish who had survived the hunt\, suffocated and died in a slow\, horrific way. \nFor the past 2 years\, with the help of PETA\, we have tried to educate the public about the cruelty of fishing and appealed to the community centre to cancel the event. The executive director ‘welcomed’ our information but insisted that the program will never end. \nThis Friday\, city councillor Joe Cressy\, will be doing a ‘meet and greet’ at Scadding Court. We plan to take advantage of this opportunity to let him and the administrators at the community centre know that offering school kids and families the opportunity to participate in a ‘canned hunt’ is not only cruel but not the most effective way to teach ecology. DESCRIPTION:Ribfest season has begun. This time\, the cruelty rolls out to Newmarket. Let’s come together to spread some love\, compassion\, and awareness to individuals north of the city. We will be exposing the public to the horrors of animal agriculture through the use of thought-provoking signs/literature\, which will be made available to participants. Just bring water\, snacks\, sunscreen\, and your wonderful selves! Any amount of time you can devote is greatly appreciated. Animals need us to tell people that they don’t have any ribs to spare. DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT \nOur Saturday demo will change place and theme due to the recent scandal involving the LBS seafood and burger restaurant. (83 Yonge Street)\nFor those unaware\, they filmed tearing apart a live lobster\, pulling out claws and the tail from an obviously suffering animal\, and then posted this video at the foodie page Eater.\nLuckily Len Goldberg noticed it and acted promptly\, so now the video is already removed\, and LBS facebook page closed after activists started leaving reviews.\nBut we shouldn’t let it go quietly\, as it is clearly a standard practice at this restaurant.
