SUMMARY:Mink Trial - Kingston
DESCRIPTION:WWW.ENDFURFARMING.COM \nThis is a support rally for my first court appearance in Kingston to face break and enter charges for filming animal neglect at the Walt Freeman mink farm (near Kingston) and reporting it to the police. I have also been charged with B&E by 2 other mink farms. Each charge potentially carries a 2 year prison sentence. \nNo property was damaged and not even a door was opened to obtain the footage. This charge is a gross misuse of the law. It is an attempt by the fur industry and the government to silence whistleblowers and censor how animals are being mistreated from the public. I have used my camera to open up the doors of these fur factories to the eyes of the world and now they want them slammed shut. I’m asking that you take a stand with me against animal cruelty and against censorship. Lets use this opportunity to expose the animal cruelty happening at the Walt Freeman mink farm and across the fur industry! \nSigns will be provided. People are asked to stand outside the court during the rally this day. \nThe public has a right to know what is happening to these animals. It should not be a crime to film and report animal cruelty to the police. \nFootage recorded at the Walt Freeman mink farm:\nhttps://youtu.be/GzHIqIOFlgI \nPlease donate to and share my legal defense fund:\nhttps://www.gofundme.com/minktrial-legal-defence-fund \nMy legal defense team is being spearheaded by Gary Grill:\nhttp://www.grillbarristers.com \nBack Story:\nIn 2017\, I spearheaded a campaign to ban fur farming in Ontario. We sent petitions to the Ontario Legislature\, the Minister of Agriculture and other key politicians. Members of our group met with and lobbied MPP’s\, and I helped organize dozens of protests at fur farms\, fur auctions\, and demonstrated against political leaders who support the fur trade. \nAs part of the campaign\, I coordinated and executed a public inquiry into the fur industry. I used a video camera to record shocking animal cruelty at 5 mink factory farms across the province. I recorded dead and injured animals\, toxic sludge pits emitting poison gas\, cages covered in feces\, and animals being fed maggot infested rotten food. The fact that these crimes were happening at 5 different farms exposed a culture of standardized animal neglect across the fur industry. \nThe videos were made public generating international media coverage and shone a big spotlight on this secretive industry. I then handed the footage over to the OSPCA in hopes they would take action to help these animals but unfortunately they have refused to act. \nThe OSPCA investigation is being lead by officer Carol Vanderheide under case #0800120180119-19. Please contact her for more information: Phone: 1-888-668-7722 ext. 414 / Email: Cvanderheide@ospca.on.ca \nRelated news coverage: \nhttps://globalnews.ca/news/3996525/battersea-farmer-accused-neglect-cruelty/ \nhttps://www.thewhig.com/2018/01/29/animal-rights-group-slams-mink-farm/wcm/5e4d86d7-edd3-0e44-6eb2-b6439312aa16 \nhttps://www.sootoday.com/around-ontario/ontario-protesters-swarm-trial-of-animal-rights-activist-accused-of-mink-farm-break-in-8-photos-1078265 \nhttps://globalnews.ca/news/4315159/animal-rights-activist-charged-with-break-and-enter-makes-first-court-appearance/ \nhttps://torontosun.com/news/local-news/activist-faces-charges-after-posting-alleged-mink-farm-abuses \nhttps://lfpress.com/news/local-news/animal-activist-charged-in-mink-stink \nWatch PETA’s expose on my investigation:\nhttps://investigations.peta.org/fur-farm-horrors/

SUMMARY:The Apiecalypse Now 2018 Fur Trade!
DESCRIPTION:Ever hear of the fur trade? Okay\, how about one where you get free pizza? THAT’S RIGHT it is the FIRST Apiecalypse Now Fur Trade! \nHere’s the deal. You have a coat with fur trim on the hood\, that fur is probably made of a coyote (an animal that lives here in Toronto with all of us everyday) or Raccoon. We don’t love that. You don’t need that fur to be warm\, but guess what\, you can donate it and baby animals that are being rehabbed and rescued in our own backyards can use it to feel safe an warm after they’ve lost their mothers. \nTHE DEAL: If you bring us your zipped off REAL** fur trim from your coat and donate it to orphaned baby animals and we’ll TRADE you for a FREE slice of pizza. \nThat’s it! You’ve got the fur\, and only animals need fur in Toronto in 2018\, so we’ll trade ya. One trim for one slice\, from open till 7pm on November 25th. This is as close to a win/win as we can get! \nYou get Pizza\, baby squirrels\, raccoons\, foxes\, possums\, chipmunks\, skunks\, kittens and other urban animals get cozy beds. We thank you\, coyotes who don’t get trapped for fur thank you\, and baby animals thank you. What a bomb ass way to show you like animals a whole lot. \n(**Faux fur is already totally chill so we are only trading for the real stuff. The babies can tell. Not sure if your trim is real? We can help you find out! One surefire way is to take a strand of it out\, and hold it to a lighter. The fake stuff melts/balls up\, the real stuff… well\, smells like burning hair. Some fur is labled faux but is real\, so give it a check! — Also the brand can be a giveaway\, if your coat is Canada Goose\, is trimmed with real\, Canadian coyote fur. And we’ll gladly take that off your hands and take it to the orphans for ya.) \nONE DAY ONLY. November 25\, Noon to 7pm\, BLOOR ST location!  \nIf you miss the trade but want to give us your fur for the babies without needing something in return we will always be happy to get it to them for you anytime. You can just give us your trim and we’ll take care of it for you. ♥

SUMMARY:Winners Anti-Fur Chalk Disruption
DESCRIPTION:YOU CAN DO THIS ANYWHERE\, ANYTIME!! \nTJX Winners\, Marshalls\, and Homesense assume that we will soon tire of speaking up against their complete exploitation of animals for profit. But they don’t know who they’re dealing with! Because this is not about us – its about so many animals who are counting on us. We will not let them suffer quietly. \nChalktivism is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to get the attention of the public and TJX head executives who don’t want their customers upset\, especially as the busy Christmas Shopping season begins. Simply grab some chalk and write your message on public sidewalks and concrete poles near the entrances of your local Winners\, Marshalls\, or Homesense store! Take a photo of your work and send it to us! When I did this at Yonge and Dundas in Toronto\, many people took photos meaning they also took the phone number with them. Hopefully some will call\, but most of all\, store managers will have something else to report to head office. \nOh\, and don’t forget to keep calling 1-800-646-9466 and if you haven’t signed the petition\, please do and SHARE IT!\nhttps://www.change.org/p/ernie-herrman-urge-tjx-winners-marshalls-homesense-to-stop-selling-fur

SUMMARY:MinkTrial Courthouse Rally
DESCRIPTION:I am facing 2 years in prison for filming animal cruelty and giving the footage to the OSPCA. \n8am – Rally in front of the Oshawa Court House. Signs will be available. I am to appear in court for 9am and am not sure how long it will take thereafter. My lawyers have asked for a large presence at court that day to draw media attention to this important issue. Demonstrators are asked to rally outside and not attend inside the courtroom that day. This is my pre-trial court appearance. Even though I am being charged\, we plan to use this trial as an opportunity to put the fur industry on trial (much like the #pigtrial did with the meat industry). This could be a catalyst for a fur farm ban! A team of experts is being assembled to coordinate a plan of action and this will become expensive. If you are able to\, please donate to my legal defense fund below (thank you!). \nPlease donate to and share my legal defense fund:\nhttps://www.gofundme.com/minktrial-legal-defence-fund \nMy legal defense team is being spearheaded by Gary Grill:\nhttp://www.grillbarristers.com \nBack Story: \nIn 2017\, I spearheaded a campaign to ban fur farming in Ontario. SUMMARY:Toronto: Stand Up for Animals Exploited & Killed by Canada Goose
DESCRIPTION:Please join local activists in protesting the use of animals in fashion outside Canada Goose’s head quarters during the company’s virtual shareholder meeting. The Canada Goose symbol is ubiquitous in cold climates\, but it represents anything but warmth. The fur trim that lines the hoods of the company’s winter jackets comes from wild coyotes who were trapped\, killed\, and skinned. A PETA eyewitness exposé of a Canada Goose down supplier reveals that workers rounded up panicked geese\, grabbing and carrying them by the neck\, as they struggled with their entire weight hanging from their necks\, and crammed them into densely packed cages for transport to slaughter. Please join us for a very important and spirited demonstration to speak out against Canada Goose’s use and abuse of geese and coyotes for their outerwear. \nWHEN: Friday\, August 10 at 10:00 am\nWHERE: 250 Bowie Ave\, Toronto\, ON M6E 4Y2\, Canada\nCONTACT: Jenny McQueen mcqueen.jenny@gmail.com \nCanada Goose misleads the public by claiming that the birds it uses for down get freedom from fear\, pain\, distress\, and physical discomfort. The company tells customers that it is “deeply committed” to the “ethical sourcing of all animal materials”—but it’s a lie. See for yourself what really happens to birds used to make Canada Goose down-filled jackets and help stop this abuse: https://investigations.peta.org/geese-crushed-suffocated-at-canada-goose-down/ \nPosters and leaflets will be provided. Note that reserved parking will not be available\, and please be prepared for the weather. Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals as well as meet local advocates\, so before you go\, check out PETA’s outreach tips [http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/tips_for_PETA_activists.pdf] and be sure to invite others. All materials will be provided\, so please just bring along as many friends and family members as you can. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:1st Annual Commercial Seal Hunt Protest
DESCRIPTION:(Picture above: Ragged Jacket harp seal pup. Copyright HSUS.) \nAs seal hunters and fishermen call on our government for a seal cull\, it is urgent we stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! IT’S TIME TO END THE CANADIAN COMMERCIAL SEAL HUNT! \nOf the 78\,000 harp seals killed in 2017\, it is estimated over 90% of these are juveniles between 3 weeks and 3 months old. Only 20% to 25% of carcasses or flippers are brought back to land for food. A mind blowing 75 to 80% are killed for their fur only\, corpse dumped at sea. \nThe ragged jackets\, baby seals about 12 days old\, are prized kills. Why? This is when the baby harp starts to molt its white coat. As soon as a patch of white fur has shed that baby seal is done for. \nThese ragged jackets earn top dollar for the sealers and that is because the grey fur underneath is silky soft and has not spotted black yet. \nSealers prefer to hunt grey seals for food. They are bigger and apparently taste better than the harp seals\, who are much smaller. \nOver the years\, various studies have been conducted to assess the level of animal suffering in Canada’s seal ‘hunt’. An analysis by a panel of veterinarians funded by IFAW in 2001 showed that about 40% of the seals were skinned while alive and conscious.\nhttp://www.harpseals.org/about_the_hunt/index.php \nWe\, as taxpayers\, are paying for the hunt approximately $2.5 million per year minimum; with the export value of the seal hunt making barely $500\,000. In fact\, the seal hunt has run a 2 million deficit and the Government blames it on “Gullible Public” according to draft minutes of a censored Intradepartmental Discussion on Seals. The Department of Fisheries has concealed data on the Atlantic hunt since 2014\, when figures confirmed its value declined significantly.\nhttps://www.blacklocks.ca/seal-hunt-runs-2m-deficit-blamed-on-stupid-public/ \nThe hunt is so violent and inhumane. The Canadian Government realized that as well\, and set up a law that no one is allowed within one nautical mile of the hunt without a license to kill or an observers permit. Animal welfare organizations or anyone who is concerned for the seals well-being are not granted observers permit.\nhttp://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/seal-phoque/management-gestion-eng.htm#obsv \nHumane Society International states “The commercial sealing industry has been a taxpayer funded make-work project for decades. Canada’s top seal processor is warehousing a stockpile of baby seal skins no one wants\, and the sole processor buying seal products is only able to do so with Government financing. Instead of propping up this dead industry with scarce tax dollars\, our Government should invest in a buyout of the commercial sealing industry. This plan would involve ending the commercial seal hunt\, compensating sealers and investing in viable economic alternatives. Economists tell us a sealing industry buyout would cost Canadians less than the vast subsidies required to continue this brutal slaughter. It would certainly offer more hope for coastal communities than empty promises of future markets for the skins of clubbed and shot baby seals.”\nhttp://www.hsi.org/world/canada/news/releases/2015/04/federal-budget-commercial-seal-hunt-waste-042215.html?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.ca%2F \nThe seals seem to be the Governments scapegoat for everything and the Commercial Seal Hunt is always the ‘remedy.’ From apparent population control to the cod decline – Cod is 1% of a seals diet. We will have FISHLESS oceans by 2050 because of HUMAN over fishing – but you want to blame the seals? Really?? \nPlease come and take a stand with us on March 26\, 2018 at the Ontario Legislative Building. The Government of Canada has to abolish the cruel\, inhumane and unnecessary Canadian Commercial Seal Hunt! We will not stand for the barbaric slaughter of seals and let’s put our tax dollars to good use and instead of death and cruelty\, let’s put it towards eco-tourism. \n(This protest is against the Canadian Commercial Seal Hunt and has nothing to do with the Indigenous Hunt.) \nAbout The Hosts:\nJennifer: I am of Newfoundland decent and actually lived there in a small town for a few years. It was during this time I witnessed a group of seals being slaughtered by Newfoundland sealers with a baseball bat. To say it was horrific is an understatement. I will never forget the sound of their cries\, and how many times those men had to hit each seal before the seal actually stopped looking up. I will never stop defending the seals because of that day. Seals have a natural curiosity and innocence about them. Seals are also very intelligent\, self aware mammals that do not want to die. No one deserves that type of inherently cruel torture. \nBrigitte: I grew up in a small coastal community called Shediac\, located in south eastern New Brunswick. As 13th generation born in Canada and Maritimer\, seal meat has never been part of my Canadian culture or diet. \nOne year ago almost to the day\, I had the privilege of leading Sea Shepherd campaign Operation Ice Watch. Op Ice Watch raised global awareness of the impact climate change on the seal population. The ice in the Gulf of St Lawrence is melting\, thinning and breaking\, drowning newborn seals. Each new generation of seals who survive the elements also have to survive the riffles and hakapiks of seal “harvesters”. \nBaby white coat harp seals are angelic. I have looked into those big beautiful black eyes. There is an innocence and vulnerability that is undeniable. \nOur purpose is to empower each of us who want to end the hunt with facts\, not propaganda. Society has become confused and complacent with misinformation and lack of information available about the commercial hunt. Questions and discussions are welcome! \nPLEASE NOTE: This event is family friendly and all ages are welcome. We realize the commercial seal hunt is a controversial issue and tempers can flare. Differences of opinions will be discussed in a respectful manner. We reserve the right to delete comments that are hateful\, racist\, vulgar and inaccurate in nature. We will block offenders. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Anti-Fur Flash Mob Toronto / Fur Auction Blockade
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for Wed\, Feb 28th\, 2018 for Toronto’s largest anti-fur event of the year! Blockade Canada’s largest fur auction & hijack Drake’s Twitter account! \nOnline Action! \nOn Feb 28th\, 2018 Hijack Drake’s twitter account with the hashtag #DrakeFurShame. Drake is Toronto’s most notorious supporter of the fur trade – creating prestige and demand for fur fashion that comes from the misery of millions of animals. Make an anti-fur post on Twitter using the hashtag #DrakeFurShame and tag Drizzy (@drake) https://twitter.com/Drake \nSuggestions: post pictures of Drake\, animals in traps\, animals on fur farms\, animals in nature \nFur Auction Blockade:\nWhen: Wed\, February 28\, 2018 3-6PM\nWhere: 65 Skyway Ave\, Etobicoke\, ON \nWhat: Join the Anti-fur Flash Mob as we hold a mock blockade of Canada’s largest fur auction. We will be picketing two entrances where auction attendees will be attempting to enter and leave the auction. NAFA (North American Fur Auctions) is the world’s second largest fur auction and is the focal point where fur farmers\, trappers\, and fashion designers exchange money. We hope to interfere with the flow of finances and disrupt the fur industry with a large presence. \nWe will be providing anti-fur / anti-drake signage (feel free to bring your own also) to draw the link between the fur trades war on animals and the celebrities that create demand for cruelty based clothing. We are asking attendees to bring Drake albums\, memorabilia\, photographs of Drake\, etc to be thrown into a trash bin in protest of the stars support of animal cruelty. We will coordinate a time for people during the demonstration to line up and throw out these items for media filming purposes. We intend to use Drake’s celebrity status to draw media attention to the animals still suffering on the last of Ontario’s 40 fur farms. \nPlease dress for the weather and be respectful of other attendees. We ask everyone to respect the rights of other demonstrators to voice their opinions and share their personal commentary directed at NAFA employees and fur auction attendees. \nDirections:\nTBA \nParking: Paid parking is available at the Sheraton Hotel parking lot across from NAFA. \nThe End Fur Farming campaign is a network of people and organizations seeking to implement a full ban on the cruel practice of fur farming in Ontario. For more information please visit www.endfurfarming.com Twitter: @endfurfarming \nNote: Please check Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Anti Fur/Down Protest At Due West
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an anti-fur/down protest in front of Due West\, retailer of cruel Canada Goose and Moose Knuckles. We’ll be reaching out to people with posters\, tablets and leaflets\, and reaching out fur/down-wearers. \nThe campaign’s goals are to deter the buying and wearing of fur and down by educating people. \nSigns and leaflets will be provided\, but please bring your own if you’re able\, and please bring a tablet or laptop with footage from trapping and fur and down farms if you can. \nActivists in New York are mounting a powerful protest campaign outside Canada Goose — so let’s mobilize in Toronto too\, for the coyotes\, geese\, ducks\, raccoon dogs\, foxes\, rabbits\, mink and other hundreds of millions of animals tortured and murdered by the fur and down industries. Animal liberation now! \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.
