SUMMARY:March For A Slaughter-Free Toronto
DESCRIPTION:Due to the increase in COVID cases Ontario has now limited public gatherings to no more than 25 people. Because we don’t know how long these restrictions will last\, and cold weather is fast approaching\, this event will now be postponed until the Spring. We have set a tentative date of Saturday May\, 1st\, and will update ASAP. \nIn the meantime you can still make a difference by signing the petition for a Slaughter-Free Toronto if you haven’t already\, and contacting your City Councillor to demand the immediate closure of Toronto’s slaughterhouses\, and an end to the daily killing of tens of thousands of animals in our city. \nMore info here:\nhttps://thesavemovement.org/toronto/\nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:6-Hour Fundraising Vigil for the Pigs - In Opposition of Bill 156
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION TO ATTEND THIS VIGIL IS NOW CLOSED!\nWE APPRECIATE YOUR INTEREST IN ATTENDING\, BUT WE HAVE REACHED MAXIMUM ATTENDANCE REGISTRATION. IF YOU HAVE NOT PERSONALLY CONFIRMED A TIMESLOT WITH AN EVENT VOLUNTEER\, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND.\nWE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE\, BUT SAFETY IS A PRIORITY AND COVID REGULATIONS MUST BE STRICTLY OBSERVED.\nTHANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE ANIMALS! \nBill 156 is an unconstitutional piece of legislation that threatens to take away our rights to peacefully bear witness to thousands of innocent pigs\, on a daily basis. Not only does it jeopardize our ability to offer the pigs comfort and compassion\, in their final terrifying moments\, it takes away the right for activists and journalists to expose inhumane conditions and cruelty within the animal agriculture industry. \nAnimal Justice will be taking on the daunting task of challenging this Bill in the Ontario courts. In order to assist with their fight\, this fundraiser is aimed to raise proceeds that will be donated to Animal Justice to help make this challenge possible. \nTHE TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS WILL RECEIVE A TORONTO PIG SAVE SWAG PACKAGE! \nThis event will take place\, rain or shine\, so be sure to watch the weather and dress accordingly. Bring a hat\, gloves\, jacket\, blankets\, umbrella and picnic basket! (Please\, no alcohol or other recreational substances.) \nWe will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however you will have the option to bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. \nTHOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED TO ATTEND will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however we will also bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. Please note\, regulations being monitored and video-taped by the Regional Police are being updated on a weekly basis so a safety briefing will be mandatory for all those participating in this event. (Please see below for general safety guidelines.) \nThere will be access to a washroom during this event\, across the street from Fearmans\, at the Tim Hortons. (Yes\, they have dairy alternative almond milk for your coffee at this location!) \nHAPPY FUNDRAISING AND WE’LL SEE YOU THERE! \nSafety Notes:\nPlease do not react negatively to any taunts or aggressive behaviour from workers or members of the public. This can increase tension and thus decrease the overall safety of the vigil. Instead please return love for hate. We use a love-based community-organizing approach based on nonviolence\, love and truth as informed by Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi. With that in mind\, ensure any interactions with slaughterhouse workers or police are calm and love-based. We will have Safety Marshals present during this event. If you feel someone is acting in an unsafe manner\, please inform one of these Marshals.\nRespect the boundaries of any coned or taped areas implemented by Safety Marshals to ensure safety.\nNever climb upon trucks or run alongside them to touch pigs or take photos/videos.\nDo not put your hands or fingers inside the trucks to interact with the pigs.\nNever approach a moving vehicle and only approach when the Safety Marshals give the ok and the vehicle has come to a complete stop.\nAt all times\, be mindful to keep a safe distance from the trucks when they are in motion\, especially when they are turning. \n**All violations\, infractions\, fines or charges applied to individuals for unlawful acts (related OR unrelated to Bill 156) are the sole responsibility of the individual. Attending the vigil and/or interacting with trucks /pigs is done so at your own risk.**

SUMMARY:Rally For Regan in NOTL
DESCRIPTION:On July 30\, 2020 speciesists attended a vigil outside of Fearmans death camp in Burlington to try to prevent activists from bearing witness and giving pigs water. A particular group of individuals recognized as being the family and friends who own Sentineal Carriages in Niagara-on-the-Lake also attended holding signs disparaging Regan Russell’s good name. \nJenn Butski who is the founder of “Locals For Carriages”\, a carriage support and thug group who oppose and try to antagonize and undermine the protests on the carriage rides held a sign which read “Epstein didn’t kill himself but…” which was meant to be read with the sign being held by a female believed to be Megan Sentineal\, daughter of Laura and Fred Sentineal\, owners of Sentineal Carriages in NOTL which read “Regan Committed Suicide”. Standing with them both was Laura Sentineal holding a sign saying “Truckers bring home the bacon”. Sean Sentienal was also present at the event. \nWe would like to see a HUGE massing if activists in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Aug 23 to gather at 12:30pm. We want to show the people of this town and Sentineal Carriages that Regan was and is a beloved\, and cherished person who was murdered by the hate\, arrogance and indifference to life that speciesists behold in their hearts to do the evil that they do toward nonhuman people. Regan’s good name was smeared by these people of whom their town council and mayor stand behind 100%! \nWe need to gather peacefully and make a big noise so that it is clear that Regan will be respected and that we will see the exploitation of horses ended in NOTL in her name. \nWE ARE ALL REGAN\nWE ARE HER LEGACY! \nWe will gather in Simcoe Park across the street from the Prince of Wales Hotel at 12:30pm. \nWe will have a briefing about safety and security and protocol on how things will unfold in the park. \nPlease bring signs celebrating Regan or demanding the banning of horse carriages. In NOTL\, we have taken to wearing orange fabric arm bands during our events in honour of Regan. We will have these available for anyone who wants to as well. We have dedicated the year of activism in her name and wear them at every action for animals we attend this year. \nThere are many areas with free parking including along the back side of the park along Byron Street and the many residential streets surrounding the main downtown core. Please consider car pooling as much as possible. Please be aware of your surroundings when walking with signs that identify you as an activist. There will be contact info provided for anyone who would like an escort to and from the event at a later time. \nIf you want to support sanctuaries and get a Regan t-shirt\, or stickers\, please reach out to Jenny McQueen. \nIf you have any questions. Please message the page. Please be aware that this event is “PUBLIC”. Please share it widely and invite EVERYONE! Be mindful of what you state on the event page. \nThank you to all and we look forward to a glorious day uplifting Regan’s name and celebrating her in a place that has so much hate for her and what she stood for. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Critter Visits Pressure Campaign
DESCRIPTION:Hey Everyone\, \nThank you for participating in this campaign to apply pressure on Critter Visits. For those who don’t know\, Critter Visits is a combination of a travelling farm that goes to schools\, seniors homes and various celebrations like birthdays in addition to renting out various nonhuman animals to houses across Ontario. The premise for the latter is to have families raise them for a specified period of time and then have them sent back to the farm to be killed for dinner. Here is their website to learn more about what they do: http://www.crittervisits.ca/springDucklings.html Please take a look so you understand what it is we are challenging. Critter Visits is a component of their farm\, Woolley Wonderland\, which is located up in the Peterborough region of Ontario. \nOver the last few months they have been all over the news as this “fad” of fostering babies has taken off in an attempt to “entertain” the kids during the pandemic. The owners of this speciesist business have acquired tens of thousands of dollars in the last few months because families have wanted to keep their kids busy without considering the victims. Enough is enough. It’s time to challenge this exploitation! Nonhuman animals are not here for us – for food\, entertainment or any other purpose. We demand that they stop using nonhuman animals for profit. \nWe will be running a social media campaign over the next week to apply pressure and agitate Critter Visits.\nOn Monday we will start by doing a Twitter Storm! Please find the links below that you simply click on and the Tweet should open up in your Twitter account (sign up for one easily here: https://twitter.com/i/flow/signup) and click TWEET and out it goes! Tweets will be posted Monday morning right here.\nWe will be targeting their Instagram and Facebook pages as well this week so please stay tuned for all for all of the details. We have created graphics to use in your posts on all platforms that you will find on this page and a list of hashtags\, do feel free to add your own as well. We want to hijack the hashtags they use so that our graphics and information are found when they are searched and the public can be educated at the same time.\nThere will be various components of this campaign including addressing the media outlets who wrote articles about them\, addressing their affiliates and contacting them via email and phone calls so please stay tuned and keep notifications turned on so that you can take part in simple calls to action. We need all of your help and participation on this. \nHashtag suggestions: #crittervisits #fosterducklings #ducklings #remotelearning #endspeciesism #animalrights #animalliberation #personsnotproperty #animals #vegan

SUMMARY:Evolve Our Prison Farms - Sanctuary or Slaughterhouse?
DESCRIPTION:Evolve Our Prison Farms was founded in 2016 by Calvin Neufeld and Calvin will be speaking about this project. Evolve is a 100% volunteer-run\, supported by experts in law\, criminology\, environmental science\, labour studies\, social work and animal therapy\, as well as hundreds of prisoners and thousands of Canadians. Evolve Our Prison Farms supports plant-based “green” agriculture which could be coupled with a recognized model of animal-assisted therapy (no slaughter or farming of animals). We oppose the government’s intention to establish prison beef and dairy operations\, and using prisoners to butcher animals in an onsite prison abattoir. \nRefreshments will be served. Q&A\nCo-hosted with Niagara Action for Animals \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Protest Speciesism at Bar Isabel
DESCRIPTION:The menu at Bar Isabel is horrifying; octopus\, foie gras\, the tongue of a cow and more; animals treated as commodities\, sold for a high price at the cost of their lives and the planet. It is absolutely shameful that a part owner of a vegan restaurant won’t do better. Please join us this Friday at Bar Isabel to hold signs\, hand out information including a menu we’ve created showing the truth behind their dishes\, speciesism literature and more. \nThis is a non violent protest with at least four police officers outside for our safety. For the animals\, hope to see you there. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Protest Speciesism at Bar Isabel
DESCRIPTION:We delivered a letter to Bar Isabel in the hopes that we could sit down to talk; for the animals\, we’d rather bridge the gap then to divide. Bar Isabel chose to ignore our offer to meet\, so we’re choosing to continue our protests for the victims\, the animals\, who have no choice. If they did have a choice it would be to live a life free of violence and exploitation. Please join us this Friday to let Bar Isabel\, 797 College St W and their customers know that they can do better; it’s not okay to exploit innocent\, sentient beings. \nThis event is non violent\, non aggressive. We have signs and literature. We plan on taking it up a notch each week\, the more people we have to speak up and raise awareness for the animals the better. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates. g

DESCRIPTION:Inspired by Roaring Silence and Rose’s Law we will march in silence in single file and draw attention to Ag-Gag Bill 156. \nThe government of Ontario has created a bill to silence\, intimidate\, and take away the rights of those of us who want animal liberation. \n❗️Together\, let’s UNITE to SILENTLY ROAR\, in response to Bill 156❗️ \nBill 156 is not only a violation of our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms but it also intends to make it illegal to expose animal cruelty on farms\, in slaughterhouses and on transport trucks. This US-inspired ag-gag bill promises\, that concerned citizens will be silenced\, and anyone exposing the truth will be criminalized. \nWe will not be silenced. We will only roar louder! \nSTOPBILL156.com\n#StopBill156 #StopAgGagBill156 \nWe will be holding truthful signs that will have images of the animals in Ontario being used for food or signs with words that relate to our messages to the public. \nAll of the signs will be provided. \nWe will be meeting at Trinity Square. \n☮️ ❤️ This will be a family-friendly\, love based event.\n❄️ 🥶 Please wear warm winter clothing! Wear gloves and hats! Be prepared to be outside for at least two and a half hours. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Chicken Chucking Protest
DESCRIPTION:The Kilt & Clover in St Catharines ON is hosting a fundraising event in which the corpses of dead chickens are tossed about in a curling style competition to raise money for local charity. \n💥Please join us in peaceful opposition to this horrific injustice to other animals💥 \nThe organizers claim that this is a “fun” event and it is acceptable to throw these victims of violence around because the money raised goes to charity\, and the dead bodies are fed to “rescued” tigers afterwards. How the money raised is used is irrelevant\, there is no excuse or justification to exploit the bodies of chickens…not for entertainment\, not for food…not for anything. There are limitless other options available for a fundraiser that do not objectify other animals. \nThese animals were fully sentient individuals with interests just like any of us. All that separates us from other animals is our bodies. It is not ethical to objectify and exploit others based on insignificant biological differences\, species membership is one such insignificant difference. \nAlso problematic is the idea that these tigers exploited by the entertainment industry are “rescued”. If they were rescued they would be in a sanctuary\, not forced to perform for the financial benefit of their “owner” by feeding these chickens to these tigers not only are they actively Objectifying these chickens\, they are participating in the exploitation of these tigers. \nMeeting location to be posted soon. \n*OTHER AR groups are welcomed to attend this action under their own banners if they desire. For all participating on behalf of AWFAN in this action 👉please use anti-speciesist signage only👈 any questions as to what this means please ask! \nThis is a safe space event. NO oppressive\, hateful or disrespectful activity will be permitted. \n  Updates will be posted to the Facebook event page.

SUMMARY:Protest Speciesism at Bar Isabel
DESCRIPTION:Please join us this Friday at Bar Isabel\, 797 College St W for the animals. Bar Isabel closes their curtains and requests police presence when we’re there\, it’s time that they instead faced the truth rather than trying to protect themselves from it. B.I profits from the violence and exploitation of other beings including the ducks and geese served as foie gras\, banned all over the world including New York. The owner of B.I is part owner of the plant based Rosalinda\, he knows that he can do better than this. \nThis is a non violent action. SUMMARY:Protest Speciesism at Bar Isabel
DESCRIPTION:We took a little break for the holidays but we’re back for weekly protests (don’t worry Bar Isabel\, we didn’t go away). \nPlease join us next Friday to protest Bar Isabel owned by Grant van Gameren\, part owner of the vegan Rosalinda. We’re glad that he’s a part of a vegan business\, we’re glad that his sister is vegan\, we’re glad that he likes to cook vegan\, but we’re not glad about all of the other animals who he kills including foie gras\, now officially banned in New York. We don’t think that he’s proud which is why his curtains are ONLY closed when we’re there in order to block out the truth but curtains won’t make the truth go away. \nThis is a non violent protest. We have signs\, literature to hand out and a megaphone (thank you Peter)\, we just need you to take a stand against speciesism for the animals. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Social Media Campaign Against Bill 156
DESCRIPTION:The Conservative Government of Ontario is looking to pass Bill 156 which will make fines up to $25\,000 for exposing violence against animals on farms and bearing witness to them on transport trucks before they end up at the slaughterhouse. \nSocial media is a excellent tool to bring attention to an issue. We will be using Facebook\, Instagram\, and Twitter to raise awareness about the issue as concerned citizens. \nWhat are you required to do? \n1. Write on a sign in not more than two sentences explaining why you oppose Bill 156. (Starting with “My name is ______ and I oppose Bill 156 because _______”) \n2. Add the following hashtags to the sign in the end: #Bill156 #StopBill156 #ExposingViolenceIsNotACrime #DismantleSpeciesism \n3. Take a photo of yourself holding the sign. \n4. Make the photo your profile pic with a description and the same hashtags that are on the sign. (Make sure to keep your profile photo “public.”) \n5. Nominate your friends in the comments by tagging them and asking them to do the same. \nThrough this campaign our goal is to start discussions about the draconian law and encourage public to take action!

SUMMARY:Protest Against the Use of Fur-Bearing Animals for Fashion
DESCRIPTION:Millions of coyotes\, raccoon dogs\, foxes\, minks\, chinchillas\, and other fur-bearing animals are murdered every year for their fur. These animals have their lives stolen away from them simply for a fashion statement. It is unacceptable that corporations that are responsible for driving this death trade aren’t being held accountable. It is unacceptable that the clothing made from the stolen fur of murdered animals are openly sold on the streets of Toronto. \nIt’s time to take action! \nJoin us Saturday as we protest against the use of fur-bearing animals for clothing and fashion. Dismantle Speciesism and Liberation T.O. will be collaborating to protest against speciesism in the fashion industry. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Protest speciesism at Bar Isabel\, co-owner of Rosalinda
DESCRIPTION:Grant van Gameren\, owner of Bar Isabel\, is a partner in the plant based Rosalinda. How could it be that someone who knows how to cook vegan food and run a bustling restaurant that doesn’t profit from the torture of animals continue to run restaurants like Bar Isabel? Foie Gras was officially banned in New York in addition to other cities and countries. How do you feel about this? Disturbed enough to take a stand? \nPlease join us in a non violent\, peaceful protest on Friday for the animals. Homemade signs are always welcome.

SUMMARY:Toronto: Protest Canada Goose Cruelty at their Shareholder Meeting!
DESCRIPTION:Please join local PETA supporters in protesting the use of animals in fashion outside Canada Goose’s headquarters during the company’s virtual shareholder meeting. The Canada Goose symbol is ubiquitous in cold climates\, but it represents anything but warmth. Every single piece of fur trim or plucked down used by Canada Goose comes from an animal who didn’t want to be killed. The fur trim that lines the hoods of the company’s winter jackets comes from wild coyotes who were trapped\, killed\, and skinned. And no matter where down is sourced\, birds used by the down industry are inevitably sent to the slaughterhouse where standard practice is to hang them upside down\, stun them\, and then slit their throats\, often while they are still conscious. \nPlease join PETA for a very important and spirited demonstration to speak out against Canada Goose’s use of geese and coyotes for their outerwear. \nWHEN: Thursday\, August 15 at 9:45 am to 11 am\nWHERE: Outside the Canada Goose headquarters at 250 Bowie Ave Toronto\, ON M6E 2R9 (please see this map: https://goo.gl/maps/Da4zrXWejwLt1grN9)\nCONTACT: Tricia Lebkuecher: TriciaL@peta.org \nPosters\, props\, and leaflets will be provided. Note that reserved parking will not be available\, and please be prepared for the weather. Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals as well as meet local advocates\, so before you go\, check out PETA’s outreach tips [http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/tips_for_PETA_activists.pdf] and be sure to invite others. All materials will be provided\, so please just bring along as many friends and family members as you can. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us in giving a warm GTA welcome to two very hardworking activists: Social media guru John Oberg and Plant Dining Partnerships President Thomas Goodman\, on the Toronto leg of their speaking tour. \nAt the same time\, please support vegan programming! This will also serve as an ad hoc fundraiser to help Calling All Vegans continue their vegan-friendly broadcasting at ThatChannel\, until other arrangements can be made. As you may know\, ThatChannel has been struggling financially\, leaving the immediate future of Calling All Vegans uncertain. They need the support of everyone in our community. \nIf you can’t attend\, please consider donating through the “Shop Now” button (leading to PayPal) found on the Plant-Based (R)evolution Facebook page or send an e-transfer to callingallvegans@gmail.com. No contribution is too small! \nFor those who haven’t yet had the chance to attend a Calling All Vegans live taping\, Sue and Alec are looking forward to sitting down for a conversation at the event with our two speakers. The interview will be live-streamed and recorded. After which\, John and Thomas will each give a presentation highlighting the initiatives in which they’re involved and outlining strategies on how activists can better advance the vegan message. \nThere will also be a pop-up food market showcasing some of our local fabulous culinary “talent” as well as the Compassion on the Streets crew serving up some delicious snacks\, available by donation\, with all proceeds going to Calling All Vegans. More details to follow. \nMEET OUR SPEAKERS! \nJOHN OBERG is a social media pro\, dedicated to making the world a kinder place for animals by strategically utilizing the power of social media. Previously\, he served as Director of New Media for the international animal protection organization\, The Humane League. Prior to that\, John served as Director of Communications for Vegan Outreach\, and he is currently a writer at Plant Based News. In his roles at THL and VO\, John oversaw social media for the organizations which led to a tenfold increase in following in both\, as well as over 1 billion impressions of content posted to these pages. In 2019 alone\, he’s had one 100 million impressions of his own posts on Twitter\, Facebook\, and Instagram. \nTHOMAS GOODMAN has been a lifelong admirer of animals\, was raised meat-free\, and later became a professional advocate for animals in 2014. He has since worked in various initiatives for animals such as corporate outreach\, federal state and regulatory advocacy\, promotion of Meatless Mondays\, leafleting across North America\, public speaking\, welfare campaigns\, community organizing\, and more for the animal protection movement. In 2019\, Thomas launched Plant Dining Partnerships\, a US non-profit devoted to providing resources to increase accessibility of plant-based food options throughout foodservice industries in all communities\, emphasizing food deserts\, highlighting competitive price\, taste\, and convenience opportunities. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:VEDTalk: The Thought Provokers
DESCRIPTION:And now for something familiar…but different. Introducing: “VEDTalks…Seeds Worth Planting”. Based on the well-known TEDTalks…but with a bright-green vegan twist! \nPlant-Based (R)evolution\, Calling All Vegans\, and Compassion on the Streets are delighted to be hosting the first instalment in a series of presentations meant to inform\, motivate\, inspire\, and provoke thought. \nHuge thanks and gratitude to the generous and talented Patrick Biller for creating our cool and creative logo for the series! \nThis segment: THE THOUGHT PROVOKERS. Please meet our VEDTalkers: \nKevin Lahey\, former undercover investigator for Mercy For Animals and currently the co-host of the sizzling-hot “THE LIVEGAN PODCAST” with Ben LeRoi. \nIsaac Brown of the cerebral and wildly popular “Ask Yourself” YouTube channel. But don’t just take my word for it…ask yourself. \nGabriel Nadler aka rapper\, Gaiaisi – Gaia’s Eye – Gaia.Is.I\, fighting ignorance\, saving animal lives\, and shattering the myth that “Vegans Are Weak” through his music\, comedy\, and clever commentary. \nNo vegan event would be complete without food\, glorious food! Bring your appetite for delicious samples as well as some takeout containers and bags for your purchases. Vendors for our mini veg fest confirmed thus far are: \nVegan Stokes Cheese (artisanal gourmet cheeses crafted with passion and compassion)\n@veganstokes \nBrown Sugar (educational food company honouring African excellence)\n@brownsugar.to \nVegans4Life (Beyond Meat\, Gardein\, and Violife distributor…because every life matters)\n@vegans4life.ca \nBzzsfree (with their delicious vegan alternative to honey!)\n@bzzsfree \nFoodVibrations (ridiculously creative and talented chef and nutritionist)\n@foodvibrations.ca \nAll three speakers will be available for a panel discussion after the presentation to clarify\, amplify\, and fortify their talks. \nThere will also be an opportunity to have your voice heard on some pressing Canadian bills which are in danger of “dying on the order paper” and needing to go back to square one if not passed before Parliament rises for summer recess on June 21\, 2019. Soumen Karmakar of Compassion on the Streets will walk you through the simple steps you need to take to weigh in and make positive changes for animals in the political arena. \nAs well\, we will be accepting cruelty-free clothing and toiletries for homeless people\, which will be distributed to those in need by Compassion on the Streets. \nThere is no charge for this event\, but donations will be gratefully accepted. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.
