DESCRIPTION:March 24th is the World Day for the End of Fishing. We’ll be joining Australia\, Belgium\, Italy\, Switzerland\, Sweden\, Germany\, USA\, Japan\, Brazil\, Denmark\, Peru\, Mexico\, France\, and the UK in holding a demonstration. Our demonstration will be held outside of Ripley’s Aquarium from 11am – 1pm. \nThis event is in collaboration with Anonymous for the Voiceless Toronto\, so we will have our signs with the addition of TV screens showing footage of fish farming throughout Canada. \nWoDEF – The World Day for the end of Fishing calls for the abolition of fishing and fish farming. \nFishes\, crustaceans and cephalopods are at the heart of the WoDEF’s concerns\, since they constitute the biggest proportion of animals killed by humans\, amounting to thousands of billions of victims each year. Launched in 2017 in Switzerland by the association PEA – Pour l’Égalité Animale\, the WoDEF is now used by associations all around the world to raise awareness about aquatic life\, among the public as well as within other animal-rights associations. \nThis is a love-based event. So we ask you to please respect the officers and any of their directions\, to keep off the road\, and to adhere to the boundaries set in place by Niagara Police and MarineLand.\n\nIMPORTANT NOTICE/REMINDER: \nProfanity\, racism\, inappropriate language/signs\, targeted insults on the patrons/employees\, and any other kind of oppressive/violent comments and actions are not welcomed\, and will not be tolerated. \nShouting rude\, direct insults at people have no positive impact\, and tarnishes our groups image as a whole. Being a kid-friendly event\, there are young children that join us\, and this is certainly not a positive image let alone example to be portraying in front of them.\nI do understand a lot of people were new to the last event and may have been unaware of our guidelines pertaining to this. \nWe just please ask everyone to respect this. It is a safety hazard (considering we are on the side of the road with oncoming traffic)\, plus there are ticks everywhere. \n* PARKING : (see map) – if you head down Burning Springs Hill off of Portage Rd\, then take a left at the bottom\, on Dufferin Isle Rd\, you will find a ton of parking down there by the water. \n* Air Horns are NOT allowed ! However you can get plastic cheer cones at Party City and party supply stores alike. DESCRIPTION:FRIENDLY REMINDER TO OUR BELOVED COMMUNITY: \nAnimals are not ours for entertainment\, they should not be used for exploitative purposes.\nWe applaud Clarington Outdoor Family Adventure Park for its redesign and new amazing features for children. There are plenty of fun and educational activities for children to do now. Plenty that do not have to involve innocent animals.\nWe also applaud them for relocating the animals\, as times are changing and many people are seeing the cruelty behind zoos. It’s very good to see them attempting to find more suitable homes for the exotic animals. We wish that the animals could go to an accreditated sanctuary\, where they will be less stressed and have better spaces to roam. \nWe will be hosting a demonstration on August 19\, 12pm-3pm to remind our community that this establishment is still exploiting animals. \nWe are also very concerned with the recent addition of the African Lion Cub Encounter program (you can pay $199+ for a photo op with infant lions). The cubs should be bonding with their mothers\, and not be induced to high-stress situations so young. \nPlease join us across the street for a friendly\, loving demo that will spark conversations about the relocation of the animals\, and the safety of the baby cubs. \nNOTE:\nThis is a PEACEFUL and FRIENDLY demo. We want to create a loving environment and educational opportunity to educate the public. No violence will be tolerated (from anyone). Some signs will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Traditionally we have spoken for all animals who continue to suffer at Marineland but this demonstration will be dedicated to Kiska\, the last remaining Orca at Marineland & Smooshi the Walrus. Over the last several years their stories have inspired many people to take action and call for immediate plans to move them out of Marineland and into a sanctuary setting. \nAs always\, this is a family friendly demonstration however PLEASE leave companion animals at home. Racist\, homophobic\, sexist\, or otherwise oppressive signs and language are not welcome at the demo. NOTE: This is a demonstration and passionate people are involved. SUMMARY:World Day for the End of Fishing
DESCRIPTION:The World Day for the End of Fishing calls for the abolition of exploitation\, fishing and farming of fishes\, crustaceans and cephalopods. Like all sentient beings\, fishes and other aquatic animals should be recognized with fundamental rights: the right to life\, freedom and physical integrity.\nConsideration for nonhuman animals is increasing\, but hardly for fish\, cephalopods and crustaceans. Yet\, they represent the majority (95-97%) of victims killed\, mainly for human consumption. 3\,000 billion aquatic animals are killed every year for their flesh\, while the gruesome aquatic animal trade is a global industry with no centralized database or governing body to enforce regulations or to track who gets bought and sold. We are witnessing an incredible massacre and massive exploitation without doing much about it. \nJoin us for a day of action at the St. Lawrence Market before we converge onto Ripley’s Aquarium to denounce the exploitation\, killing and consumption of aquatic animals and express our solidarity with them. SUMMARY:Protest Against Ripley's Aquarium Beach Party
DESCRIPTION:Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is hosting their first ever indoor beach party this month.  \nWe have the opportunity to share information with people who want to/will attend this event.  \nSince Toronto has NO direct connection to any tropical wildlife\, let alone the ocean – it makes sense for us to educate the public about this $130 million dollar facility which is used purely for entertainment purposes. It’s essentially an aquatic amusement park\, with it’s touch tanks\, crawl tunnels and tsunami simulator. \nIt is beyond cruel to keep these beings confined in such small spaces. It’s even worse that so many people are unaware of the negative impacts this Aquarium has had on the aquatic wildlife residing within those tanks. \nTo throw a loud\, unnecessary party inside an aquarium is barbaric. These creatures were born to live in the vast\, peaceful and majestic oceans they came from. \nThe sharks\, sting rays\, fish and other wildlife in this aquarium are constantly surround by the loud annoying sounds coming from human beings. Nothing about that is natural.  \nPlease join this protest to help educate the public about this cruelty! This fitness class is suitable for all levels from pre-vegan up to vegan level 5\, be prepared to experience creative movement exercises that embody the imagined experience of being of an endangered species stolen from your ocean home and locked up in a fish tank filled with Lake Ontario’s polluted water and salt. Show and invite the people waiting in line at Ripley’s Aquarium that there are less cruel and more fun ways to spend a Saturday morning because compassion is spiritual and physical fitness.
