SUMMARY:Toronto City Hall Rally for the Launch of the Plant Based Treaty
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Tuesday\, August 31st at the Toronto City Hall for the launch of the Plant Based Treaty inviting mayor John Tory and city councillors to endorse it. \nThe IPCC report that just came out is full of dire warnings about our future. What future we have for ourselves\, our kids\, our grandkids\, and generations to come. Part of the solution is moving away from animal agriculture\, and for that reason\, the Animal Save\, Health Save\, and Climate Save Movement and many other climate and animal advocacy organizations are pushing out a new initiative called the Plant Based Treaty. \nAs a companion to UNFCC/ Paris Agreement we are urging governments to negotiate which will include the following three principles: \n🌱 RELINQUISH: No land usage\, ecosystem degradation or deforestation for the purpose of animal agriculture. \n🌱 REDIRECT: An active transition from animal-based agricultural systems to plant-based food systems. \n🌱 RESTORE: Restore key ecosystems and reforest the earth. \nThe website goes live on August 31 but you can find the landing page here:\nhttps://plantbasedtreaty.org/ \nAnyone wanting to volunteer please\, comment in the discussion tab or email Angie at torontoclimatesave1@gmail.com

SUMMARY:INHERIT THE DUST - book flipthrough & discussion
DESCRIPTION:Live book flipthrough\, mini documentary screening and discussion panel \nSince 2001\, Nick Brandt has documented the vanishing natural world and animals of East Africa. \nThe photographs of life-size panels of animals in locations where they used to roam\, but as a result of human impact on the environment\, no longer do\, carry an important message. \nIt is a general assumption that the destruction in Africa has to do with poaching and feeding the unstoppable demand for animal parts from the Far East. However\, the problem is more complicated as it is also linked to the world’s meat consumption\, deforestation and climate crisis and exploitation of all animals on the planet \nBook trailer is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84HtDi3cbc0 \nNote: Please check Facebook event page for Zoom link.

SUMMARY:Breaking Boundaries - Feat David Attenborough
DESCRIPTION:Watch with us on Zoom and lets’ chat after the film! \nAbout the documentary:\nThe key message from the film is that we still have time. We are an endlessly innovative species. Cooperation is our superpower. And we are beginning to see signs that major change is coming. The science is clear on what humanity needs to do. There are three priorities: cut greenhouse gases to zero\, protect the wetlands\, soils\, forests and oceans that absorb our impacts\, and change our diets and the way we farm food. This is the mission. And everyone benefits. We will live in a cleaner\, healthier and more peaceful world. Imagine that same car\, safely at home and the children asleep in their beds at night. \nTrailer is here :\nhttps://youtu.be/Gb6wQtNjblk \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Planet Vs Cargill Global Day of Action
DESCRIPTION:The Climate Save Movement’s mission is to end animal agriculture and to reforest the Earth. \nAnimal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions and the leading source of ocean dead zones\, deforestation\, mass species extinctions\, and excessive water use. \n75% of global deforestation and 91% of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest are caused by animal agriculture. This insanity and short-sighted greed that is destroying forests\, including the Amazon rainforest\, has been perpetuated by animal agricultural commodities giants and slaughter companies such as Cargill. \nMcDonald’s burgers are sourced from deforested Amazon. Join the Climate Save Movement’s Planet V$ Cargill campaign to protest this ecocide and bring about the urgent plant-based revolution. Animal\, Climate and Health Save Movements are organizing a global day of action against Cargill which will take place on March 21! \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

The situation is urgent\, and we need to act now\, and we need our governments to act now. \n“We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe\, warns UN”: The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/08/global-warming-must-not-exceed-15c-warns-landmark-un-report \nIt may be worse than we think. \n“Scientists Have Been Underestimating the Pace of Climate Change“: Scientific American: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/scientists-have-been-underestimating-the-pace-of-climate-change/ \n___________________________________________________________________\nREBEL BEYOND BORDERS – INTERNATIONAL REBELLION\nIn October 2018\, we declared The Rebellion.\nIn April 2019\, we declared The Emergency.\nIn October 2019\, we will declare The Truth. \nStarting on Monday\, October 7th\, we are joining together as a global family in an International Rebellion as we grieve the suffering and destruction of our beautiful world. \nWe will gather with our communities across cities\, countries\, and continents\, to rise up and rebel for our deep love of life and the need to protect it.\n___________________________________________________________________ \nEXTINCTION REBELLION’S KEY DEMANDS\n1. Government must tell the truth by declaring a binding climate and ecological emergency\, and by working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.\n2. Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.\n3. Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
