SUMMARY:National Animal Rights Day 2021 - Toronto
DESCRIPTION:What to expect at NARD Toronto:\n\n\n\nWe’ll be gathering outside the health food store at Keele & St.Clair\, and may spread across all 4 corners if we need to social distance more. We’ll read out a land acknowledgment.\n\n\n\nWe’ll take photos at the intersection\, and will then slowly walk to the slaughterhouses nearby on Gunns Road. There we will hear the declaration of animal rights.  There will be a scroll for signing too.\n\n\n\nThere’ll be a short speech about the current environment for animals in Canada. The ceremony will end with a song – by artist  Vegan Eyes from the UK.\n\n\n\nAs the music plays\, we’ll thread the chainlink fence at the slaughterhouses with flowers.\n\n\nThanks to all for supporting this day\, which in Toronto is dedicated to the memory of Regan Russell. Details of her memorial on the 18th & 19th of June will be given at the ceremony.\n\n\nMasks are mandatory at this event.  For updates please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/851195498779463/\n\n\nDress code: all black. A limited number of NARD T-Shirts will be available to buy on the day.  Masks are mandatory\, and free animal rights masks will be available too on the day\, initially reserved for those who may come without.  \nThe #declarationofanimalrights will be read out at the ceremony and will also be available for signing: https://declarationofar.org/textSign.php \nFor more information\, see www.TheNard.org \n#Commemorate  \n#Celebrate \n#Educate  \nEstablished by the non-profit Our Planet. Theirs Too. in 2011\, The National Animal Rights Day (NARD) is an annual day observed in a growing number of countries around the world\, on the first Sunday in June\, for the purpose of giving a voice to all animals and raising awareness for their rights. It’s “Memorial Day” and “Independence Day” for the animals\, combined.

SUMMARY:NARD Toronto 2017 - National Animal Rights Day
DESCRIPTION:Please join us to commemorate\, educate\, celebrate. Toronto activists are again coming together for the National Animal Rights Day (NARD)\, an international event established by “Our Planet. Theirs too.” at http://www.thenard.org/ This will be the 3rd event in Toronto. All welcome\, whether to take part\, to watch\, to volunteer before the day. \nOn June 4 2017\, special NARD events will be held in major cities across North America. They start with a memorial ceremony for the billions of animals who die every year by human hands – often in the presence of real deceased animals who are mourned in public – and the reading and signing of The Declaration of Animal Rights. They end with a celebration of the animals in our lives\, and the steps that are being made towards ending their suffering and shifting the planet to a cruelty-free\, plant-based\, lifestyle. \nSunday is the big day!! \nHere’s everything you need to know about the event: \nLOCATION\nTrinity Square Labyrinth directly behind the Eaton Centre. The closest intersection is Yonge & Dundas. (Pics of location & parking attached). \nTIME\nPlease arrive no later than 11am. The ceremony should run until about 1pm. \nWHAT TO WEAR\nIf you don’t already have a NARD T-shirt\, it’s best to wear a light shirt that you can put the NARD shirt over\, because it may be hard to find a place to change. If you don’t already have a NARD shirt\, you can purchase one at the event for $20 or pay what you can. Please bring cash and note that NARD shirts are required for all standers with animals and signs. \nWHEN YOU ARRIVE\nLook for the Sign-in table. There you can find out what your role is\, and we’ll direct you to where you can sign the waiver\, collect your white sanitary jumper suit\, etc. \nDURING THE CEREMONY\nOnce in formation\, please remain as still as possible holding the animal or placard in your hands. Please also refrain from using your cell phones and other gadgets for emailing\, texting or taking photos during the ceremony. It’s important that we maintain a serious\, unified look\, with as little movement and distractions as possible. You will be able to leave your personal belonging in a designated area\, where someone will be watching over them during the ceremony. \nWHAT NOT TO BRING\nPlease do not bring any of your usual Animal Rights posters\, banners\, and other accessories. We want the visual message of this day to be very unified and clear\, so we will be providing all the banners\, posters\, and other visual aids needed. \nWHAT ELSE YOU CAN DO TO HELP\n* If you would like to help us cover the costs of this day\, and help us do it again next year\, please feel free to give any monetary donation you can afford – we will have a donation box for that. \n* We need a few people to help with setting up\, and clean up. If you can come early or stick around afterwards\, we’d really appreciate it. \nThank you everyone for being a part of this day

SUMMARY:Toronto Veggie Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Toronto Veggie Parade is excited to announce a new date for 2016 and a new route! Everyone is welcome 🙂 Free for individuals!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year we’re being more eco-conscious and not having big gas-guzzling floats – instead we’re welcoming people power\, bicycle power and a few smaller vehicles. As well\, we’re welcoming best made costumes – from recycled materials ideally. \nThe parade is about 5km long – about 2 hours to walk\, including stoppages – shortcuts are available! We’ll start at noon from Devonshire Place\, travel east along Bloor\, down Yonge Street\, across Isabella\, south on Church Street\, then west on Gerrard\, past Ryerson University and down to Dundas Street\, then returning all the way north on Yonge Street\, west on Bloor and ending near the starting point. Folks who want to socialize afterwards can wander through Philosopher’s walk – a beautiful walkway just past the ROM. \nCommunity groups – we’ll email you an invite – or message us to request participation guidelines – all vegan friendly orgs will be welcomed! We’ve added the ‘Tickets’ link so you can pay via PayPal – or you can send us a cheque\, or even cash on the day – if you can’t afford the $25 let us know 🙂 \nEveryone! Come and watch the fun\, come and participate and support the many non-profits and community associations that’ll be taking part.
