We will gather to draw attention to the lives that have been lost and continue to end due to Maple Leaf’s pursuit of profit and protest the new slaughterhouse proposed for London Ontario. \nAt 5:00pm we will meet at the coffee shop located at 540 College St. \nWe will then hold a funeral/home demo outside CEO Michael McCain’s residence to honour the lives he has taken. The chickens and pigs that are murdered by McCain and Maple Leaf Foods are all individuals who want to live their lives freely\, not be used as commodities and serve as property to human interests. \nAt approximately 6:30pm we will move from the first location to the second location. We will follow a planned route partially on foot in the style of a funeral procession. DESCRIPTION:WWW.ENDFURFARMING.COM \nThis is a support rally for my first court appearance in Kingston to face break and enter charges for filming animal neglect at the Walt Freeman mink farm (near Kingston) and reporting it to the police. I have also been charged with B&E by 2 other mink farms. Each charge potentially carries a 2 year prison sentence. \nNo property was damaged and not even a door was opened to obtain the footage. This charge is a gross misuse of the law. It is an attempt by the fur industry and the government to silence whistleblowers and censor how animals are being mistreated from the public. I have used my camera to open up the doors of these fur factories to the eyes of the world and now they want them slammed shut. I’m asking that you take a stand with me against animal cruelty and against censorship. Lets use this opportunity to expose the animal cruelty happening at the Walt Freeman mink farm and across the fur industry! \nSigns will be provided. DESCRIPTION:I am facing 2 years in prison for filming animal cruelty and giving the footage to the OSPCA. \n8am – Rally in front of the Oshawa Court House. Signs will be available. We sent petitions to the Ontario Legislature\, the Minister of Agriculture and other key politicians. Members of our group met with and lobbied MPP’s\, and I helped organize dozens of protests at fur farms\, fur auctions\, and demonstrated against political leaders who support the fur trade. \nAs part of the campaign\, I coordinated and executed a public inquiry into the fur industry. I used a video camera to record shocking animal cruelty at 5 mink factory farms across the province. I recorded dead and injured animals\, toxic sludge pits emitting poison gas\, cages covered in feces\, and animals being fed maggot infested rotten food. The fact that these crimes were happening at 5 different farms exposed a culture of standardized animal neglect across the fur industry. \nThe videos were made public generating international media coverage and shone a big spotlight on this secretive industry. I then handed the footage over to the OSPCA in hopes they would take action to help these animals but unfortunately they have refused to act. \nThis past May I was arrested and charged with Break and Enter stemming from the footage recorded at the Christel Schwirtz Mink Farm near Oshawa\, ON. No property was damaged and not even a door was opened to obtain the footage. This charge is a gross misuse of the law and an attempt by the industry and the government to silence and censor this information from the public. I have used my camera to open up the doors of these fur factories to the eyes of the world and now they want them slammed shut. I’m asking that you take a stand with me against animal cruelty and against censorship. \nThe public has a right to know what is happening to these animals. Healthcare costs are considerably greater for food insecure households\, rising in a step-wise fashion with more severe food insecurity. Even after adjusting for other well-established social determinants of health\, such as education and income levels\, the healthcare costs incurred by a severely food insecure adult in Ontario are more than double that of a food secure adult. These findings imply that addressing food insecurity would drastically reduce the associated health care costs and improve overall health.” \n”We did the math: Every year a severely food insecure Ontarian costs the healthcare system $2\,300 more than their food secure counterparts. DESCRIPTION:Join KW Animal Save and London Pig Save at the courthouse in Simcoe for a vigil for over 1500 pigs who died in one of the biggest cases of animal cruelty in Canadian history. \nHelp the public understand what happens when animals are considered property. \nOn February 17th\, 2017\, the OSPCA went to a farm in Langton owned by Benjamin Stein. Over 1500 pigs were found in a flooded barn\, buried in manure\, and with no access to food. Nearly 1300 pigs were already dead and 250 more were euthanized at the farm. \nBenjamin Stein’s sentencing hearing will be at 9am. We will hold a vigil from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.\, then we will attend the sentencing and continue our vigil afterwards. DESCRIPTION:The recent news that the Trump Administration would reverse the ban on elephant trophy imports from Zambia and Zimbabwe implemented by Obama generated a huge public outcry. Subsequently\, Trump announced that he would put the decision on hold to further review conservation facts. \nWe need to continue to excrete pressure on the US government\, AND also on our own government officials as Canada voted against moving all elephants to Appendix I to provide them the highest level of protection at the 2016 CITES meeting which took place in Johannesburg\, South Africa – we MUST speak up for these intelligent\, sentient beings. \nElephants need us now more than ever.
