IF YOU HAVE NOT PERSONALLY CONFIRMED A TIMESLOT WITH AN EVENT VOLUNTEER\, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND.\nWE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE\, BUT SAFETY IS A PRIORITY AND COVID REGULATIONS MUST BE STRICTLY OBSERVED.\nTHANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE ANIMALS! \nBill 156 is an unconstitutional piece of legislation that threatens to take away our rights to peacefully bear witness to thousands of innocent pigs\, on a daily basis. Not only does it jeopardize our ability to offer the pigs comfort and compassion\, in their final terrifying moments\, it takes away the right for activists and journalists to expose inhumane conditions and cruelty within the animal agriculture industry. \nAnimal Justice will be taking on the daunting task of challenging this Bill in the Ontario courts. In order to assist with their fight\, this fundraiser is aimed to raise proceeds that will be donated to Animal Justice to help make this challenge possible. \nTHE TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS WILL RECEIVE A TORONTO PIG SAVE SWAG PACKAGE! \nThis event will take place\, rain or shine\, so be sure to watch the weather and dress accordingly. Bring a hat\, gloves\, jacket\, blankets\, umbrella and picnic basket! (Please\, no alcohol or other recreational substances.) \nWe will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however you will have the option to bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. \nTHOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED TO ATTEND will be set up at the Fearmans gates\, for the duration of the vigil\, however we will also bear witness from the sidewalk or from the corner of Appleby and Harvester. Please note\, regulations being monitored and video-taped by the Regional Police are being updated on a weekly basis so a safety briefing will be mandatory for all those participating in this event. (Please see below for general safety guidelines.) \nThere will be access to a washroom during this event\, across the street from Fearmans\, at the Tim Hortons. (Yes\, they have dairy alternative almond milk for your coffee at this location!) \nHAPPY FUNDRAISING AND WE’LL SEE YOU THERE! \nSafety Notes:\nPlease do not react negatively to any taunts or aggressive behaviour from workers or members of the public. This can increase tension and thus decrease the overall safety of the vigil. Instead please return love for hate. We use a love-based community-organizing approach based on nonviolence\, love and truth as informed by Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi. With that in mind\, ensure any interactions with slaughterhouse workers or police are calm and love-based. We will have Safety Marshals present during this event. If you feel someone is acting in an unsafe manner\, please inform one of these Marshals.\nRespect the boundaries of any coned or taped areas implemented by Safety Marshals to ensure safety.\nNever climb upon trucks or run alongside them to touch pigs or take photos/videos.\nDo not put your hands or fingers inside the trucks to interact with the pigs.\nNever approach a moving vehicle and only approach when the Safety Marshals give the ok and the vehicle has come to a complete stop.\nAt all times\, be mindful to keep a safe distance from the trucks when they are in motion\, especially when they are turning. \n**All violations\, infractions\, fines or charges applied to individuals for unlawful acts (related OR unrelated to Bill 156) are the sole responsibility of the individual. Attending the vigil and/or interacting with trucks /pigs is done so at your own risk.**

When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck:\nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons:\n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.\n2) Cows are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some cows will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand.\n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. SUMMARY:Fearman's Truth Bombs @ the Intersection
DESCRIPTION:Fearman’s slaughterhouse is located at a busy intersection\, many people drive by not even knowing what it is and that Fearman’s kills 40\,000+ 4-6 month pigs each and every week. \nThese pigs enter the slaughterhouse terrified\, injured\, sick\, trapped\, thirsty\, suffering and sometimes dead and the people of Burlington need to know their tragic plight from birth to slaughter. They also need to know about our beloved friend and fellow activist Regan Russell that was struck down and killed by a slaughterhouse truck driver on June 19th. Regan was an amazing\, strong and beautiful human that would still be alive today if Fearman’s worked with us for a safety agreement to bear witness which they have refused even though Halton Police tried to get them to the table in 2019. \nWe spread out at the 4 corners at the Intersection at Appleby Line and Harvester Road. We hold signs\, sticker\, leaflet\, use the megaphone to raise awareness for the horrible injustice that happens in this horrific building each and every day and in all factory farms and slaughterhouses all around the world. \nThere may be an opportunity to bear witness on the median when the trucks are stopped at the red light but that is not always possible. Nobody is obligated to try and bear witness but some of us will given the opportunity. If you are on the median there are some safety rules that we will provide you. \nSigns\, stickers and leaflets are provided but feel free to bring your own. \nHope to see you there\, the animals need us! 💜 \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Toronto Chicken Save Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a vigil for chickens at the Maple Leaf slaughterhouse in Toronto. \nPlease be aware that 2 trucks arrive (normally at the same time) and we bear witness to those 2 trucks. They can come anytime between 7:30pm – 9pm so we suggest activists arrive around 7:30pm so they don’t miss the trucks. \nThis is a love-based event. There are safety protocols put into place by both us and the slaughterhouse. Feel free to bring your own signs and please dress accordingly.

SUMMARY:World Day for Farmed Animals Vigils
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, an estimated 70 billion cows\, pigs\, chickens\, turkeys\, and other sentient land-based animals are caged\, crowded\, deprived\, drugged\, mutilated and macerated in the world’s factory farms. Then they are brutally slaughtered for our dinner table. Countless aquatic animals are caught and suffocated by vast trawler nets\, so we can have our fish fillet or tuna fish salad. \nSince 1983\, the annual observance of World Day for Farmed Animals on October 2nd (Gandhi’s birthday) has been offering people of conscience a superb opportunity to memorialize and mourn these innocent lives. An opportunity to ask their friends and neighbors to stop subsidizing senseless atrocities at their supermarket checkout counter. Hundreds of groups and individuals throughout the world participate each year. \nMeet us at the North / East corner of Appleby Line and Harvester Road. \nThere may be an opportunity to bear witness on the median when the trucks are stopped at the red light but that is not always possible. Nobody is obligated to try and bear witness but some of us will given the opportunity. If you are on the median there are some safety rules that we will provide you.\nSigns\, stickers and leaflets are provided but feel free to bring your own. \nHope to see you there\, the animals need us! 💜

DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now (incredibly) voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a relationship over a long period of time. Though we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n🚍 Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck (for two reasons): \n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the pigs are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. \n2) Your safety:\nHarvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck: \nOur awesome safety guide will blow a whistle when our time is up to bear witness. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety and to allow the driver space to back up. This is what they’ve agreed upon to voluntarily give us this time to bear witness. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, break our agreement and end our ability to bear witness. \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. DESCRIPTION:Schedule for the day: \nThe memorial and performances will all take place at the entrance to the slaughterhouse – which has announced they will be closed for the day – at Harvester Road\, opposite the Tim Hortons. \n11:30\nT-Shirt table opens\nBook of Remembrance available for signing \n12pm\nThere will be a peaceful protest about 10 minutes walk from the memorial for those who wish to join \n1:30pm\nFood is served: with thanks to Rara & pBrian and ANIMAL LIBERATION KITCHEN\nPlease bring your own water bottles. We’re aiming for this to be a plate-free event\, with finger food available. DESCRIPTION:On June\, 17th the government of Ontario voted in favour of Bill 156\, an ag gag law that will make it illegal to bear witness to animals on factory farms\, transport trucks and any area deemed an ‘Animal Protection Zone’. \nAnita Krajnc\, Toronto Pig Save co-founder says\, “This government’s Bill 156 is asking people to turn away from suffering animals\, and that is evil. We will not look away. We will continue to bear witness to innocent pigs\, cows\, chickens and other animals in front of slaughterhouses and share their stories and in the words of Leo Tolstoy ‘come close\, as close as we can\, and try to help’.”⁠ \nOntario’s newly passed Ag Gag Bill 156 is an evil\, undemocratic and unconstitutional piece of legislation which violates Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.\n⁠⁠\nOn June 19th\, 2020\, a beautiful soul was taken from us. Regan was tragically struck and killed by a pig transport truck while standing peacefully on public property outside of Fearmans slaughterhouse. She bore witness and gave water to the pigs on a scorching hot day\, offering them a final moment of respite – as she had done at weekly animal vigils for years.
