SUMMARY:Toronto Cow Save Vigil for the Cows
DESCRIPTION:*****************************\nIMPORTANT:\nA section of Bill 156 has taken effect prohibiting us to interfere or stop trucks. We do not forcefully stop trucks at these vigils anyway\, and don’t normally “interfere” but we do ask drivers to give us a few minutes with the cows prior to backing in. Some do\, some don’t. With a peaceful presence\, we hope they will continue to do so. Please come with peace to change the violent\, dark energy of this area of Toronto.\n********************************\nPlease join us for a vigil to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the hundreds of cows\, calves\, and lambs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at St. Helen’s slaughterhouse in Toronto.\nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\nPARKING: Please park in the parking lot of the Stock Yards Village shopping complex\, a 1 minute walk from the vigil site. There is no parking at the vigil and tickets are being issued.\n——————————-\nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending.\n Keeping Toronto Cow Save vigils peaceful.\n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Toronto Cow Save vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time.\n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a place of respect over a long period of time. Though we know what they do for a living is wrong\, we remain respectful to the drivers for giving us this time to expose to the world the reality of farmed animals. We are not there to attack individuals\, but a whole system.\n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of engaging in a negativity. Break the cycle of violence.\n Bearing witness on the sidewalk side of the truck:\n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the cows are surrounded\, they may panic. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have.\n2) Your safety:\nGlen Scarlett Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen.\n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck:\nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons:\n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.\n2) Cows are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some cows will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand.\n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress.\n Moving away from the truck:\nThe driver will often beep his horn when it’s time to back away or we will let you know. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety and to allow the driver space to back up. This is what they’ve agreed upon to voluntarily give us this time to bear witness. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, break our agreement and end our ability to bear witness. Until we have a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them.\n Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you

SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save vigil challenging the secrecy of ag-gag Bill 156
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our weekly vigil this Wednesday\, September 2\, 9-10:30 am. The Conservative Ontario Ford government is putting into force two clauses of the infamous ag-gag Bill 156 that specifically targets bearing witness to animal victims in front of slaughterhouses. We will continue to not look away and flee from a suffering creature but rather\, as Leo Tolstoy stated\, come close\, as close as we can to her\, and try to help. \nRead: https://www.thesudburystar.com/news/local-news/ontario-bill-prohibiting-animal-rights-activists-from-interfering-with-livestock-transport-takes-effect-wednesday/wcm/611a6702-e4c2-4ffa-bc4a-892f2dea46d7 \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. \n Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck.  Harvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. Please always pay attention to your surroundings. \n‍Keep Arms out of the truck.  Please avoid the temptation to reach inside. Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. This may cause them stress. \n Moving away from the truck: The timekeeper will indicate when you should move away from the truck. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times\, and help others to keep safe too. \nThank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. \n2) Your safety:\nGlen Scarlett Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Cows are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some cows will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck: \nThe driver will often beep his horn when it’s time to back away or we will let you know. Until we have a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them. \n❤️🐄🐑❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

DESCRIPTION:On June\, 17th the government of Ontario voted in favour of Bill 156\, an ag gag law that will make it illegal to bear witness to animals on factory farms\, transport trucks and any area deemed an ‘Animal Protection Zone’. \nAnita Krajnc\, Toronto Pig Save co-founder says\, “This government’s Bill 156 is asking people to turn away from suffering animals\, and that is evil. We will not look away. We will continue to bear witness to innocent pigs\, cows\, chickens and other animals in front of slaughterhouses and share their stories and in the words of Leo Tolstoy ‘come close\, as close as we can\, and try to help’.” \nOntario’s newly passed Ag Gag Bill 156 is an evil\, undemocratic and unconstitutional piece of legislation which violates Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.\n\nOn June 19th\, 2020\, a beautiful soul was taken from us. Regan was tragically struck and killed by a pig transport truck while standing peacefully on public property outside of Fearmans slaughterhouse. She bore witness and gave water to the pigs on a scorching hot day\, offering them a final moment of respite – as she had done at weekly animal vigils for years. She died fighting against the animal agriculture industry that hides the truth\, as shown by the passing of “ag gag” legislation\, Bill 156\, designed to outlaw lawful protests and vigils at slaughterhouses.\n\nJoin our global action on Wednesday\, June 24th to let the Ontario government know how we feel about this unjust law and honor Regan’s memory. \nAnimal Save Movement will hold protests in the following cities and countries: \nArgentina (Córdoba and Mar del Plata)\nCosta Rica (San José)\nCanada (Toronto\, Winnipeg\, Manitoba)\nEngland (London)\nItaly (Rome)\nMéxico (Ciudad de México)\nSlovenia (Ljubljana)\nUruguay (Montevideo) \nPlease join us. \nOrganize a protest in front of the Canadian embassy or consulate in your city or demonstrate in front of the government building. \nContact journalists and media of interest in your country and let’s claim the right to bear witness. \nContact us if you want to organize a protest in your city. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save Weekly Vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now (incredibly) voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a relationship over a long period of time. Though we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n🚍 Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck (for two reasons): \n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the pigs are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. \n2) Your safety:\nHarvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck: \nOur awesome safety guide will blow a whistle when our time is up to bear witness. \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save Weekly Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness and speak up for\, the ten thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearmans slaughterhouse. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) Bear witness:\nThe purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to try and help and give water to thirsty animals\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, to share with others\, and to expose a violent space. We occasionally disrupt trucks at all day vigils when we have the numbers. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now voluntarily giving us time to bear witness after having used a very love-based approach at the vigils by talking to workers. We also have a worker helpline for those who wish to leave this violent industry. Some slaughterhouse workers may try to taunt. Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n3) Avoid causing stress for animals:\nWhen the pigs are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n4) Your safety:\nHarvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen.\n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n🚛 Move away from the truck once the trucks starts moving \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for bearing witness. Please bring a friend. The more people who bear witness\, the greater impact we will have in ending animal agriculture. The animals desperately need you and our entire community. \nPlease Note: Sometimes we are at the slaughterhouse gate and sometimes we are at the intersection of Appleby Line and Harvester Road on the traffic median so if you don’t find us at one location\, please walk over to the other \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.
