SUMMARY:Toronto Cow Save Vigil - STOP Bill 156
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special vigil to speak up against Bill 156. The Ontario PC Party is trying to quickly push this bill through before anyone is even aware of it. If passed\, this bill would make it illegal for you or I to take photos\, video\, or expose the suffering of farmed animals. Animal agriculture\, already\, almost entirely hides what is happening to animals from public view and this law will push their suffering even further into the darkness. Ag-gag laws such as this\, in the U.S.\, have been stuck down as unconstitutional. Join us to be their voice and say No! \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided. \nPARKING: Please park in the parking lot of the Stockyards shopping complex\, a 1 minute walk from the vigil site. There is no parking at the vigil and tickets are being issued.\n——————————- \n👇 Please read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. 👇 \n☮️ Keeping Toronto Cow Save vigils peaceful. \n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Toronto Cow Save vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now (incredibly) voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a place of respect over a long period of time. Though we know what they do for a living is wrong\, we remain respectful to the drivers for giving us this time to expose to the world the reality of farmed animals. We are not there to attack individuals\, but a whole system. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of engaging in a negativity. Break the cycle of violence. \n🚍 Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck (for two reasons): \n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the cows are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. \n2) Your safety:\nGlen Scarlett Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Cows are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some cows will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck: \nOur awesome safety guide\, Ian\, will blow a whistle when our time is up to bear witness. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety and to allow the driver space to back up. This is what they’ve agreed upon to voluntarily give us this time to bear witness. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, break our agreement and end our ability to bear witness. Until we have a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them. \n❤️🐄🐑❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save Weekly Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness and speak up for\, the ten thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearmans slaughterhouse. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) Bear witness:\nThe purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to try and help and give water to thirsty animals\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, to share with others\, and to expose a violent space. We occasionally disrupt trucks at all day vigils when we have the numbers. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now voluntarily giving us time to bear witness after having used a very love-based approach at the vigils by talking to workers. We also have a worker helpline for those who wish to leave this violent industry. Some slaughterhouse workers may try to taunt. Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n3) Avoid causing stress for animals:\nWhen the pigs are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. The more people who bear witness\, the greater impact we will have in ending animal agriculture. The animals desperately need you and our entire community. \nPlease Note: Sometimes we are at the slaughterhouse gate and sometimes we are at the intersection of Appleby Line and Harvester Road on the traffic median so if you don’t find us at one location\, please walk over to the other.

Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n4) Your safety:\nHarvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen.\n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n🚛 Move away from the truck once the trucks starts moving \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for bearing witness. Please bring a friend. The more people who bear witness\, the greater impact we will have in ending animal agriculture. The animals desperately need you and our entire community. \nPlease Note: Sometimes we are at the slaughterhouse gate and sometimes we are at the intersection of Appleby Line and Harvester Road on the traffic median so if you don’t find us at one location\, please walk over to the other \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now (incredibly) voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a relationship over a long period of time. Though we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n? At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety and to allow the driver space to back up. This is what they’ve agreed upon to voluntarily give us this time to bear witness. SUMMARY:New Year Special: Stop The Trucks All Day in the GTA
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the 3rd of January to #StopTheTrucks at slaughterhouses in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and bear witness to animals before they end up on the kill floor and have their throats slit. \nThese animals have never experienced any compassion and empathy at the hands of humans in their whole lives. Giving them a moment of love before they are murdered is the least we can do. \nSigns will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. \nThe meeting point is St. Helen’s Meat Packers in Toronto. We will there for two hours and then head over to our next locations. There will be a lunch break as well! \nSo\, come out on Friday\, bear witness\, document animals’ stories\, share it with the world\, and take action. \nSee you! \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates

SUMMARY:Brampton Chicken Save Morning Vigil & Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Please join Brampton Chicken Save for our weekly vigil held in Brampton\, ON to bear witness and outreach to the public. \nMaple Lodge is located right near access to busy highways 35 minutes away from Toronto. We have an opportunity to educate those around us about over 500\,000 lives that are stolen every single day at North America’s largest chicken murdering facility. \nThey are the only chicken slaughterhouse legally allowed to kill the three-year-old “spent hens” driven all the way from as far as Ohio and Pennsylvania. Join us in raising awareness and offer compassion and love to those being sent to murder. \nPARKING:\nPlease do not park on the tarmac in front of the gate\, it is the sole request of the security. At the lights right outside of Maple Lodge we have been given permission by the farmer to park our cars on the outside of his field located across the road. \nWHAT TO BRING:\n– handmade signs\n(we have some to provide but encourage you to get creative!)\n– camera/video recording device\n– weather appropriate clothing \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

DESCRIPTION:Join us this Sunday to share love and positive energy with animals as they arrive to their final destination. \nWe will be stopping trucks and bearing witness to the animals who arrive at Fearmans\, as well as giving water and sharing their stories. Every animal arriving on Sundays is held overnight at the slaughterhouse in a small and crowded barn. They experience unimaginable pain and suffering all night before entering the gas chamber. \nPlease dress warm\, unfortunately the area we stand is essentially a wind tunnel. \nJoin us\, for them.\n#stopthetrucks \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:World Day for Farmed Animals
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to an all-day vigil for the billions of innocent lives needlessly used and taken by humans each year. We ask you to fast for 24 hours on October 2\, Gandhi’s birthday anniversary. Please take a selfie with a message and use the #FastAgainstSlaughter\nThe Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) is organizing events worldwide: \n“Each year\, an estimated 56 billion cows\, pigs\, chickens\, turkeys\, and other sentient land-based animals are caged\, crowded\, deprived\, drugged\, mutilated and macerated in the world’s factory farms. Then they are brutally slaughtered for our dinner table. Countless aquatic animals are caught and suffocated by vast trawler nets so we can have our fish fillet or tuna fish salad. \nSince 1983\, the annual observance of World Day for Farmed Animals on October 2nd (Gandhi’s birthday) has been offering people of conscience a superb opportunity to memorialize and mourn these innocent lives. An opportunity to ask their friends and neighbors to stop subsiding senseless atrocities at their supermarket checkout counter. Hundreds of groups and individuals throughout the world participate each year.” \nWe hope that you will too. \nFor more information visit: www.DayForAnimals.com\nOrder free literature to hand out on WDFA: https://www.dayforanimals.com/resources/\n#FastAgainstSlaughter\n#WDFA \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:5 DAY VIGIL Against Construction of New MapleLeaf Slaughterhouse
DESCRIPTION:We will be holding a five day vigil and hunger strike for the animals for the first time in Toronto. \nThis year our activists friends from Spain will be holding a similar 5 day vigil due to the opening of Europe’s biggest slaughterhouse in Binefar and we will also be standing in solidarity with them. \nThe vigil will start on Sunday\, August 25 at 540 College St. We will hold a protest and memorial for the chickens and pigs Maple Leaf Foods has killed and proceed to march to the Maple Leaf “Poultry” slaughterhouse at 100 Ethel Avenue where we will be setting camp for the next 5 days. The Toronto slaughterhouse is closing in two years and Maple Leaf Foods is currently constructing a mega chicken slaughterhouse in London\, Ontario. \nDEMANDS: \n1. We demand Maple Leaf Foods immediately stop construction of the chicken slaughterhouse in London\, Ontario #StopMapleLeafViolence \n2. We demand Maple Leaf transition to a 100% vegan\, plant-based protein company. \nMaple Leaf Foods owns plant based protein products LightLife and Field Roast. CEO Michael McCain cited climate youth activist Greta Thunberg at the 2019 shareholders meeting\, “The house is on fire!” and urged attendees to watch her speech at the World Economic Summit at Davos. At a time when we face a climate emergency\, it is unthinkable and beyond irresponsible to construct a new slaughterhouse. Rather all slaughterhouses need to shut down and food companies have to move towards a just\, plant-based food system. \nWe will be bearing witness to the chickens and cows that are going to Maple Leaf Foods and St. Helen’s and Ryding-Regency slaughterhouses in the area during the entire week. Together with other groups of The Save Movement\, we want to raise awareness about what happens in these places filled will violence and suffering\, and\, in addition stay there\, where no one wants to go\, to show the public the reality and to show the animals love\, during some of the hardest moments of their short lives. \nThe organizers will be on site 24/7. \n#HungerStrikeAgainstMapleLeaf \nWe invite vigil participants to fast for the entire week.\nIf you are not able to fast\, we still need you! We need many activists present in order to draw the much needed public attention to these places. We also encourage you to invite non-vegan friends and family members so they can see the injustice these animals face. \nPROGRAM: \nWe will have daily activities\, trainings and workshops as well as outreach at the intersection of St. Clair and Keele. Schedule to be announce in coming weeks. \nThe Save Movement is a non-violent organization. Please . read our code of conduct before joining the vigil. \nMISSION STATEMENT: \nWe hold peaceful vigils at slaughterhouses to bear witness to the millions of farmed animals whose lives are needlessly taken each day\, and to bring public awareness to their plight. Bearing witness to the living animals that we consume has a profound effect on our choices and to our attitude towards these sentient beings who are mostly hidden from public view. To witness and to feel their suffering\, to see them as the unique\, individual lives that they are will strengthen our resolve to end this cruelty. We believe that ending violence and oppression must be done with love and kindness for all beings\, regardless of sex\, race or species. \nRESPECT FOR ANIMALS: \n• Stay Calm: Animals are very sensitive to our energy. Approach truck slowly\, calmly and quietly so as not to frighten animals more than they are already.\n• Noise: Animals are extremely sensitive to noise and are already under a great deal of stress. Consider not speaking at all or\, if you must\, speak in a soft and quiet tone.\n• Flash: Avoid pointing your flash directly at the animals\, as this will further stress the animals\, only use it from the side. The organizers have a flash they will use to help you with your photography and videos.\n• Touching: Exercise discretion when engaging with and touching the animals; don’t scare them. \nSAFETY: \n• The organizers will be safety marshals and wear reflective vests\, they are there to keep attendees safe near trucks.\n• Approach truck once the organizers have finished speaking with the driver and when safety marshals signals that it’s safe. Truck drivers cannot see you.\n• Stay on the ground\, do not climb trucks. We cannot cause damage to any property as trucks or the slaughterhouse buildings\, as this will result in a fine for the organizers.\n• Bear witness on curb side of truck\, not on traffic side.\n• Don’t put arms in trucks. If truck moves or animals panic\, you can be seriously injured. \nINTERACTION WITH SLAUGHTERHOUSE WORKERS: \n• Speak to drivers\, employees\, and police with respect\, even if they do not. We are there to promote peace. We wish to maintain a good relationship with the workers\, as this may benefit us in the long run and allow us to enter the premises or save animals.\n• Resist temptation to react/respond to provoking from employees in a negative manner.\n• Oppose violence with love and kindness. We are a movement wishing to spread compassion. \nPUBLIC OUTREACH: \n• Stay peaceful and positive. Avoid temptation to respond to negative comments with negative responses.\n• In areas with traffic and by passers you can hold a sign at the road or leaflet\, when not bearing witness. If you choose not to\, please go to a designated break area so as not to detract from the seriousness of our message. Let’s make this short time speaking up for animals as effective as possible. They need us! \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save Monthly Vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. \n? Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck (for two reasons): \n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the pigs are surrounded\, they may panic and try to flee causing a stampede. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. \n2) Your safety:\nHarvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n?‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n? Moving away from the truck: \nOur awesome safety guide will blow a whistle when our time is up to bear witness. \n❤️?❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.
