SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save Weekly Vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Toronto Pig Save Vigils now occur at the intersection of Harvester Rd & Appleby Line in Burlington next to Fearmans Slaughterhouse. \nDon’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearmans slaughterhouse. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n—————————————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. \n🚍 Bear witness on the sidewalk side of the truck.  Harvester Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. Please always pay attention to your surroundings. \n🙋‍Keep Arms out of the truck.  Please avoid the temptation to reach inside. Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand.  Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck: The timekeeper will indicate when you should move away from the truck. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times\, and help others to keep safe too. \nThank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Toronto Cow Save Vigil for the Cows
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT:\nCovid:\nDue to Covid we ask that attendees keep 2 meters apart and/or wear a mask. \nBill 156\nA section of Bill 156 has taken effect prohibiting us to interfere or stop trucks. We do not forcefully stop trucks at these vigils anyway\, and don’t normally “interfere” but we do ask drivers to give us a few minutes with the cows prior to backing in. Some do\, some don’t. With a peaceful presence\, we hope they will continue to do so. Please come with peace to change the violent\, dark energy of this area of Toronto.\n********************************\nPlease join us for a vigil to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the hundreds of cows\, calves\, and lambs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at St. Helen’s slaughterhouse in Toronto.\nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided. \nPARKING: Please park in the parking lot of the Stock Yards Village shopping complex\, a 1 minute walk from the vigil site. There is no parking at the vigil and tickets are being issued.\n——————————-\nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending.👇 \n☮️ Keeping Toronto Cow Save vigils peaceful.\n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Toronto Cow Save vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time.\n2) Truck Drivers:\nMany drivers are now voluntarily giving us time to bear witness. This is due to building a place of respect over a long period of time. Though we know what they do for a living is wrong\, we remain respectful to the drivers for giving us this time to expose to the world the reality of farmed animals. We are not there to attack individuals\, but a whole system.\n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of engaging in a negativity. Break the cycle of violence. \n🚍 Bearing witness on the sidewalk side of the truck:\n1) Stress for animals:\nWhen the cows are surrounded\, they may panic. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have.\n2) Your safety:\nGlen Scarlett Road is extremely busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck:\nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons:\n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.\n2) Cows are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some cows will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand.\n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n🚛 Moving away from the truck:\nThe driver will often beep his horn when it’s time to back away or we will let you know. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety and to allow the driver space to back up. This is what they’ve agreed upon to voluntarily give us this time to bear witness. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, break our agreement and end our ability to bear witness. Until we have a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them. \n❤️🐄🐑❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Vigil and Outreach for the Fish
DESCRIPTION:We will be one of 30 Save Movement chapters around the world participating in Global Fish Vigil Week. Come and join us to educate our neighbours and fellow Hamiltonians about the plight of aquatic animals. We will honour their lives. Fortinos sells live lobster so that they can be painfully boiled alive. That is in addition to many other live and dead fish sold there. Fish are friends not food. They have families and feel pain just like us. To adhere to local health regulations there will be a maximum of 25 attendees. Masks are mandatory. Thank-you for speaking up for the fish and all aquatic life! \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:No New Slaughterhouse in Toronto - STOP Tru-Harvest "Meats" Inc
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on March 1 at 12:00 PM at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) office at 1122 Finch Ave W Unit 22\, North York for a demonstration against the opening of a new cow & calf slaugherhouse in Toronto\, and at 1:30 PM for another demo & vigil for the cows and calves arriving for slaughter at Tru-Harvest slaughterhouse at 70 Glen Scarlett Rd. \n***Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we request that everyone wear a mask and maintain physical distancing. If there are more than five people at the demonstration\, we will ask that everyone form groups of 5 and spread over different corners of the street*** \nTru Harvest “Meats” plans to open a new slaughterhouse\, at the same site as Ryding-Regency\, on Monday and they intend to kill 1\,600 cows per week including baby calves for “veal”. Ryding-Regency was closed in 2019 for E-Coli contaminated “meat” after the company deceived the CFIA by providing false or misleading information test results. \nWe DEMAND that the CFIA and Toronto’s City Council: \n• WITHDRAW the license to Tru Harvest “Meats” to open a new slaughterhouse in Toronto.\n• STOP the proposed killing of 83\,200 cows per year. 3.7 million cows are killed each year in Canada. Over 292 million cows and baby calves are killed globally every year.\n• STOP subjecting innocent animals to unimaginable suffering and violence. In the proposed halal and kosher slaughterhouse\, animals are not going to be stunned and will be fully conscious as they are going to die slow painful deaths. Linda McQuaig\, in a Toronto Star article\, wrote: ‘Cows hoisted upside down\, dangling from one leg\, appear to be still moving while workers tear off their skin with knives.’\n• STOP killing male calves. They are babies aged only between 1 and 24 weeks old.\n• STOP killing pregnant dairy cows. It’s obscene to learn that the majority of dairy cows going to the slaughterhouse are pregnant.\n• STOP using taxpayer dollars to subsidize these atrocities. In 2019 alone animal agriculture subsidies by the Canadian government totaled $1.9 billion.\n• SHUT down all slaughterhouses and engage in alternate safe and meaningful employment programs in the plant-based food industry for slaughterhouse workers\, making Toronto a Slaughter Free City.\n• ENACT a slaughter-free\, plant-based food policy at city-administered offices\, community centers and educational institutions.\n• ALLOCATE funding to provide plant-based foods for Toronto’s low-income communities.\n• IMPROVE the nutritional education and cooking programs for slaughter-free\, plant-based meals in city-run community centers and other educational institutions \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Friday Vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Fearman’s slaughterhouse is located at a busy intersection\, many people drive by not even knowing what it is and that Fearman’s kills 40\,000+ 4-6 month pigs each and every week. \nThese pigs enter the slaughterhouse terrified\, injured\, sick\, trapped\, thirsty\, suffering and sometimes dead and the people of Burlington need to know their tragic plight from birth to slaughter. They also need to know about our beloved friend and fellow activist Regan Russell that was struck down and killed by a slaughterhouse truck driver on June 19th. Regan was an amazing\, strong and beautiful human that would still be alive today if Fearman’s worked with us for a safety agreement to bear witness which they have refused even though Halton Police tried to get them to the table in 2019. \nWe spread out at the 4 corners at the Intersection at Appleby Line and Harvester Road. We hold signs\, sticker\, leaflet\, use the megaphone to raise awareness for the horrible injustice that happens in this horrific building each and every day and in all factory farms and slaughterhouses all around the world \nThere may be an opportunity to bear witness on the median when the trucks are stopped at the red light but that is not always possible. Nobody is obligated to try and bear witness but some of us will given the opportunity. If you are on the median there are some safety rules that we will provide you.\nSigns\, stickers and leaflets are provided but feel free to bring your own.\nHope to see you there\, the animals need us! 💜 \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Mink Trial
DESCRIPTION:Animal Rights activist Malcolm Klimowicz is facing a B&E charge and a 10 year prison sentence after filming and exposing animal cruelty at 5 Ontario mink farms during a public inquiry. This is expected to be the last trial date where the defense and the prosecutor will submit their closing arguments.\nThe trial will be broadcast online at this link: (more info will be shared when it becomes available).\nhttps://www.ontariocourts.ca/scj/\nHere is a good article which covers a lot of what happened at the last court dates where both Malcolm and the fur farmer testified:\nTrial starts for Windsor native accused of breaking into mink farm to video living conditions \n“No property was damaged and not even a door was opened to obtain the footage. This charge is a gross misuse of the law. It is an attempt by the fur industry and the government to silence whistleblowers and censor how animals are being mistreated from the public. I have used my camera to open up the doors of these fur factories to the eyes of the world and now they want them slammed shut. I’m asking that you take a stand with me against animal cruelty and against censorship. Lets use this opportunity to expose the animals suffering at the Walt Freeman mink farm and across the fur industry!” \nThe public has a right to know what is happening to these animals. It should not be a crime to film and report animal cruelty to the police. \nFootage recorded at the Walt Freeman mink farm:\nhttps://youtu.be/GzHIqIOFlgI \nPlease donate to and share my legal defense fund:\nhttps://www.gofundme.com/minktrial-legal-defence-fund\nMy legal defense team is being spearheaded by Gary Grill:\nhttp://www.grillbarristers.com \nBack Story:\nIn 2017\, I spearheaded a campaign to ban fur farming in Ontario. We sent petitions to the Ontario Legislature\, the Minister of Agriculture and other key politicians. Members of our group met with and lobbied MPP’s\, and I helped organize dozens of protests at fur farms\, fur auctions\, and demonstrated against political leaders who support the fur trade.\nAs part of the campaign\, I coordinated and executed a public inquiry into the fur industry. I used a video camera to record shocking animal cruelty at 5 mink factory farms across the province. I recorded dead and injured animals\, toxic sludge pits emitting poison gas\, cages covered in feces\, and animals being fed maggot infested rotten food. The fact that these crimes were happening at 5 different farms exposed a culture of standardized animal neglect across the fur industry.\nThe videos were made public generating international media coverage and shone a big spotlight on this secretive industry. I then handed the footage over to the OSPCA in hopes they would take action to help these animals but unfortunately they have refused to act.\nThe public probe into the fur industry caught farmers red handed engaging in criminal activity surrounding negligence and mistreatment of the animals in their care. Instead of taking action to help the animals\, the police\, government\, prosecutors\, and the fur industry went on a crusade to set an example of me.\nTheir aim was to deter others from defending animals as I have done. They went outside the scope of the law and criminally charged me with B&E\, civilly sued me for tens of thousands of dollars\, and went so far as to pass animal ag bill 156 – a law designed to stop any footage of animal use industries being recorded or shared to the pubic.\nWhat I have done to help save these animals may be questionable but what the fur industry is doing to them is\ninexcusable! I stand by my actions and I’ve seen our message resound around the world in a more unified voice than ever before to put an end to the madness of fur farming. \nMore info:\nWWW.ENDFURFARMING.COM \nWatch PETA’s expose on my investigation:\nhttps://investigations.peta.org/fur-farm-horrors/

SUMMARY:Toronto Cow Save Vigil for the Cows
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a vigil to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the hundreds of cows\, calves\, and lambs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at St. Helen’s slaughterhouse in Toronto. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided. \nPARKING: Please park in the parking lot of the Stock Yards Village shopping complex\, a 1 minute walk from the vigil site. There is no parking at the vigil and tickets are being issued. \n******************************** \nIMPORTANT:\nCovid: Due to Covid we ask that attendees keep 2 meters apart and/or wear a mask. Please come with peace to change the violent\, dark energy of this area of Toronto.\n******************************** \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending.👇 \n☮️ Keeping Toronto Cow Save vigils peaceful.\n1) Peace:\nThe purpose of Toronto Cow Save vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others.
