DESCRIPTION:Our generous supporters have once again provided us with so many amazing items to auction to raise funds for the sanctuary and to help us get ready for winter! \n100-percent of the money raised from the auction will go directly to the support and care for the residents of Grey’s Haven Farm Sanctuary. \nThis year\, we will be using a new platform for the auction which will make viewing the items and bidding so much easier – Stay tuned for the auction link!  \nDespite the pandemic\, having restrictions most of 2021\, and not being able to host most of our regular summer events\, we were still able to purchase a new house for our Pekin duck crew\, a new hay and straw shelter\, and some heavy duty feed troughs for our pig family.  \nThank you to everyone who followed us from the beginning\, who supported us through our ups and downs\, and who have become like family to us 💚 We know that with everyone’s support\, this online auction will be a huge success!  \n**We are still accepting donations for the auction – if you are interested in donating please contact us!**

Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.  \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand.  \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

Break the cycle of violence. \n🙋‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n❤️🐷❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on the Friday before the Canadian “Thanksgiving” long weekend to raise awareness to the plight of the turkey victims who are routinely abused and exploited in the animal agriculture system. This weekend in particular\, millions of individual turkeys’ bodies will be consumed for the sake of a traditional holiday that is for many reasons\, outdated. \nThis is a peaceful demonstration\, not a disruption. We will not be stopping trucks or trespassing. If the opportunity to bear witness presents itself\, which we hope for\, we will do so peacefully. Placards and safety vests will be provided. In this training you will learn: \n– How to avoid debates and arguments\n– How to reduce defensiveness in others\n– How to manage other people’s egos\n– How to help people explore their values (what questions to ask)\n– How to help people align their actions with their values \n– We will also talk about how the coaching style of communication can be adapted for new event formats \n– The training will be approximately one hour followed by a Q and A session. \nAbout the Facilitator:\nJames Hattersley (Wholesome James on YouTube) has used a coaching style of communication in his professional career to achieve outstanding results leading teams of hundreds of people\, and since using these transferable skills in vegan advocacy has seen incredible results in the effectiveness of his advocacy. James has been facilitating vegan outreach workshops for the past 1-2 years\, as well as attending hundreds of street outreach events\, vigils\, investigations\, and various other forms of activism.  \nProven to be the most effective way to inspire behaviour change in others\, the skills taught in this training will increase the percentage of people who go vegan\, or take steps toward going vegan\, after speaking with you.

SUMMARY:Truck Rollover 5 year Anniversary Vigil
DESCRIPTION:On October 5\, 2016 a truck full of doomed 6 month old pigs overturned in front of Fearmans Pork slaughterhouse. Pigs were trapped inside\, some killed by the crash\, most still alive screaming in pain\, agony and terror for hours. \nSome pigs escaped and wandered the streets\, outside for the first time in their life\, we saw the excitement in their eyes to see grass and they immediately started rooting\, they thought they were finally free but the truth was the opposite. \nWe begged for some of the pigs to be given sanctuary rather than slaughter but Fearmans refused to show mercy and executed them anyway even though some where too injured to be “processed” for profit. \nFearmans would rather execute them and throw them in the garbage then to give them a chance to live free from harm. \nSee more information about the tragic day here: https://youtu.be/zxhyPP59dlo \nWe will gather at the South/East corner of Appleby Line and Harvester Road\, the exact spot where the truck rolled over and remember the victims. We will also remember our dear\, heroic friend Regan Russell\, violently killed by a truck full of pigs at the same slaughterhouse on June 19th 2020. Regan was also there that day 5 years ago\, outraged by Feamans refusal to release the injured pigs to sanctuary. \nBe Fair. Be Kind. Be Just. Be Vegan.

Toronto Chicken Save holds regular vigils for the chickens to bear witness to\, to speak up for\, and to bring awareness to the thousands of lives who are needlessly and violently stolen daily at this Toronto slaughterhouse. Please join us. \nTwo trucks are scheduled to arrive together within the timeframe of this vigil. The manager or security guard on duty normally will voluntarily allow us to spend five minutes with each truck. They have asked that we bear witness from the side of the truck that is along the grass\, not the side of the street for safety reasons\, and would appreciate if we wore safety vests. Please be respectful of these requests\, as they do not have to let us spend time with the chickens.\nJoin us! Bring a friend. Be their voice. Be the change you want to see in the world. \nPLEASE READ:\n🚗 Parking\nPlease park in south end of the parking lot of Metro grocery store (directly behind the store)\, closest to Ethel Avenue and Maple Leaf Food Inc.\n🦠 COVID\nTo reduce the spread of COVID we recommend that attendees do their best to follow Toronto safety measures.\n🚔 Bill 156\nA section of Bill 156 has taken effect prohibiting us to interfere or stop trucks. We do not forcefully stop trucks at these vigils\, however Maple Leaf managers have agreed to voluntarily let us spend five full minutes with each truck. With a peaceful presence\, we hope they will continue to do so. Please come with peace to change the violent\, dark energy of this area of Toronto.\n⛈ Weather\nWe attend rain or shine\, as the chickens arrive rain or shine. However\, if there is a forecast for thunderstorms we may cancel the event for our own safety. We are not there to attack individuals\, but a whole system.\n✌ Slaughterhouse Workers\nOffer a wave or peace sign instead of responding negatively if a worker engages with you. Break the cycle of violence.\n🐔 Stress for animals\nThe chickens we bear witness to are very young and scared. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. Artificial light\, like a camera flash\, has a big impact on birds. Never use a flash at night. If you do\, it may startle the bird and cause injury. When it’s dark out\, instead of using a flash\, please select a higher ISO speed. Be careful if using a flashlight to not shine them directly in the chickens’ eyes.\n🦺 Your safety\nEthel Avenue is extremely dark in the evening/night and at times busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. Please dress visibly\, dress according to the weather\, and carry a light source with you. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. Please only bear witness from the side of the truck that is along the grass\, not the side of the street. Safety vests will be provided.\n🙋‍♂️Keep arms and hands out of the truck:\nAvoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons:\nThe truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.\nFear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past so human hand/arm may cause them stress.\nMoving away from the truck:\nEveryone will be notified when five minutes is up. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, end our ability to bear witness. Until we create a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them.\nThank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. DESCRIPTION:Chickens are one of the most abused animals on the planet. Toronto Chicken Save holds regular vigils for the chickens to bear witness to\, to speak up for\, and to bring awareness to the thousands of lives who are needlessly and violently stolen daily at this Toronto slaughterhouse. Please join us. \nTwo trucks are scheduled to arrive together within the timeframe of this vigil. The manager or security guard on duty normally will voluntarily allow us to spend five minutes with each truck. They have asked that we bear witness from the side of the truck that is along the grass\, not the side of the street for safety reasons\, and would appreciate if we wore safety vests. Please be respectful of these requests\, as they do not have to let us spend time with the chickens.\nJoin us! Bring a friend. Be their voice. Be the change you want to see in the world. \nPLEASE READ:\n🚗 Parking\nPlease park in south end of the parking lot of Metro grocery store (directly behind the store)\, closest to Ethel Avenue and Maple Leaf Food Inc.\n🦠 COVID\nTo reduce the spread of COVID we recommend that attendees do their best to follow Toronto safety measures.\n🚔 Bill 156\nA section of Bill 156 has taken effect prohibiting us to interfere or stop trucks. We do not forcefully stop trucks at these vigils\, however Maple Leaf managers have agreed to voluntarily let us spend five full minutes with each truck. With a peaceful presence\, we hope they will continue to do so. Please come with peace to change the violent\, dark energy of this area of Toronto.\n⛈ Weather\nWe attend rain or shine\, as the chickens arrive rain or shine. However\, if there is a forecast for thunderstorms we may cancel the event for our own safety. Please click “Going” to be notified of any cancellation.\n☮️ Peace\nThe purpose of Toronto Chicken Save vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions should take place at a different time.\n🚛 Truck Drivers\nThough we know what they do for a living is wrong\, we remain respectful to the drivers for giving us this time to expose to the world the reality of farmed animals. We are not there to attack individuals\, but a whole system.\n✌ Slaughterhouse Workers\nOffer a wave or peace sign instead of responding negatively if a worker engages with you. Break the cycle of violence.\n🐔 Stress for animals\nThe chickens we bear witness to are very young and scared. Most have not had positive human interactions in their short lives and may see us as danger. Let’s not cause any added stress to these beings than they already have. Artificial light\, like a camera flash\, has a big impact on birds. Never use a flash at night. If you do\, it may startle the bird and cause injury. When it’s dark out\, instead of using a flash\, please select a higher ISO speed. Be careful if using a flashlight to not shine them directly in the chickens’ eyes.\n🦺 Your safety\nEthel Avenue is extremely dark in the evening/night and at times busy with transport trucks and other large vehicles. Please dress visibly\, dress according to the weather\, and carry a light source with you. When bearing witness\, we are often not actively paying attention to our surroundings and tragedy could happen. Please only bear witness from the side of the truck that is along the grass\, not the side of the street. Safety vests will be provided.\n🙋‍♂️Keep arms and hands out of the truck:\nAvoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons:\nThe truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it.\nFear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past so human hand/arm may cause them stress.\nMoving away from the truck:\nEveryone will be notified when five minutes is up. At that time we must (very\, very sadly) move away from the truck\, for your safety. Not giving them the safe space may\, sadly\, end our ability to bear witness. Until we create a mass movement to free our friends\, this is what we must do to help them.\nThank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you there.
