Oppose Point Pelee Deer Slaughter
YOU DON’T NEED TO LIVE IN ONTARIO TO HELP!!!
Parks Canada continues to promote killing wild animals in their own habitats.
Point Pelee National Park is a sad example, becoming a manipulated piece of geography with park staff determining what population levels of certain animals are acceptable. The same management principles that are applied to deer are also applied to Double-crested Cormorants, a much persecuted species.
Only a certain number of deer and cormorants are tolerated by Parks Canada, and when those numbers are surpassed the animals are culled. Because wild animals will always expand their populations to fill the carrying capacity of the area, the killing will have to be done again and again.
For over 10 years AAC has opposed the culling of deer and cormorants. We know that without opposition from our group and others that the persecution of wild animals would likely be even worse than it is now. Changing a social and political culture that so readily accepts killing is slow work, but we are committed to doing that work regardless of how long it takes.
