Climate Vegan at the World Cup of Hockey

Between Sept. 17 and Oct. 1, Toronto will be hosting the World Cup of Hockey tournament featuring teams from all over Europe, including Finland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic vs teams from Canada and the US. Now you don’t need to be a hockey fan to take advantage of the tens of thousands of people, including media, from all over the world who will be in our city for this spectacle! In addition to the hockey, the Distillery District will be turned into a Fan Zone where all kinds of events will take place including concerts by the Killers (Sept. 16) and Green Day (Sept. 23)
My plan is to connect this world sporting event to another world issue-Climate Change. As my good friend Glenn Gaetz said-if we don’t dosomething about climate change, ice hockey will cease to exist! LOL! We will hang some Cowspiracy banners from various bridges in the area of the ACC and the Fan Zone during the finals and distribute Climate Vegan cards along with Vegan Outreach’s Compassionate Athletes leaflets at various times:

*Sept. 20, 6-8pm – before the game between Canada and USA at the ACC
*Sept. 23 4-7 pm Green Day concert at the Fan Zone
*Sept. 27, 29, 6-8 pm and, if necessary, Oct. 1 5-7 pm, for the finals of the tournament at ACC and Fan Zone.
*Sept. 25 3:00-6:00 pm banner making party and pizza at MC’s place! I know this is Guelph VegFest day but just in case anyone isn’t going…
