Special Candlelight Vigil for the Pigs

September 21, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please join us for a special candlelight vigil as we bear witness to the pigs at Conestoga “Meat” Packers. We wish to shine light into the very dark operations of Conestoga Meat Packers while standing in peaceful solidarity with our animal friends. We are all animals.

We will use this time to talk as a group about why we are there, the meaning and purpose behind bearing witness, code of conduct / safety, as well as use the time for open dialogue about what love based activism can do. Our focus is to give love to the pigs and we need to work heart-centred, as a group, to create the best way to do this at Conestoga “Meat” Packers.

If you have any questions or if you are nervous about attending a vigil and would like to talk to someone about your fears or concerns please use the message feature to contact us. Please share this event, ‘invite’ Facebook users and bring family and friends with you.

TIME:
*some ppl are at the corner for outreach as early as 5:00pm if this time is convenient for you.
6:00 – 7:00pm Traffic-engagement at the corner of Fountain Street and Victoria Street – we will provide signs, but feel free to make your own love-based sign to bring. FRUIT provided to keep energy UP

7:00 – 9:00pm Vigil at Conestoga “Meat” Packers Slaughterhouse.
Drive to 313 Menno Street, Woolwich, Ontario. Park on LONSDALE Road. To avoid getting a ticket, park about 100m past the slaughterhouse, behind the sign that says no parking.

POST VIGIL:
Support and debriefing is always available! We often go for food, tea or just companionship to a local restaurant or home. Please reach out in person or through the KW Animal Save page if you are ever in need! We are all here to support each other.

WHAT TO BRING:
Bring signs if you’d like (loving and peaceful messages only please) your camera, and your HEART.

PLEASE NOTE:
We are a love-based group who believe that we can achieve more through compassion than through force. Violence, drugs, or negativity are not welcome at vigils. This includes anger vocalized to truck drivers. Although we are all angry at the trucks and what they are doing, we gather to show empathy for the animals, spread compassion, and raise awareness.

When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him.” -Leo Tolstoy
