India is home to 57% of the World’s 3,890 tigers.
Let that number sink in. LESS than 4,000 wild tigers are left on this planet.
These captivating wild cats are not only an endangered species, but they play a crucial role in the health and diversity of the ecosystems they reside in.
Avni, is a young tigress, mother to two beautiful 9-month-old cubs. They reside in the forest of Pandharkawda, in the State of Maharashtra, India.
DID YOU KNOW India’s NATIONAL ANIMAL is a TIGER?
Avni and her children are in CRITICAL DANGER because they are being hunted down!
This tigress has been deemed a “man eater” by the state government of Maharashtra who has allegedly killed “13 human beings.”
Not only has the government assigned notorious private hunters, armed with tranquilizers and guns to find Avni – but they are also exploiting and using animals like elephants, horses, and dogs to assist them in invading HER territory to KILL her on sight.
The plight of Avni is not just about her; it’s about the blatant disregard toward ALL WILDLIFE. ALL life forms including tigers are interlinked with each other within an ecosystem, and their survival is completely dependent on how intact the ecosystem is.
Human beings and wild animals CAN co-exist peacefully, however when human beings kill them, destroy their natural habitats, or wandering into THEIR territories, the survival of those wild animals is threatened greatly.
Killing Avni would be an absolutely unnecessary and DISGRACEFUL act of murder and cruelty committed by the Government who is supposed to PROTECT ALL WILDLIFE in its country. The Maharashtra Forest Department is sacrificing SO many lives JUST to prioritize human lives. This CAN be changed.
The impact of killing Avni could also possibly affect the future generations to come, AND it could impact the population of tigers on a global scale. This could also damage the economy.
DID YOU KNOW: “In India, more than 350 rivers originate from tiger reserves. These reserves also segregate carbon, provide oxygen and slowly release ground water to regulate floods. Protecting the tiger will in turn protect these vital habitats.” (David Shepherd, Tiger Time)
Tigers are meant to be revered and revered as they are a sacred symbol in Hindu religion and culture. They symbolize fierceness, power and elegance. We MUST use our voices to FIGHT for them.
We are asking you to PLEASE support this campaign to PUSH for JUSTICE FOR AVNI, and ALL wildlife we share this Planet with.
If we don’t act now, then these magnificent beings will merely remain as a memory for future generations to come.
