March Against the Fur Trade
Join us as we march to help abolish the fur industry.
We will be marching through the Downtown Fashion District and ending at Dundas Square. Our goal is to bring awareness once again this year about the immense suffering that goes into making fur/trim and down coats and to change the minds and hearts of others about not supporting this cruel and uneccessary industry. Help us speak out for these innocent animals and help us make a change.
Some additional information:
-Large posters will be provided to everoyne to hold during the march
-We will have lots of leaflets, stickers and anti-fur buttons to pass out to the public to create awareness
-We are working on getting a Mascot costume and the person who will volunteer to wear the costume will be drumming at the very front of the march
-There will be another person wearing a fur/faux jacket and we will cover it in blood. This person will also be wearing a skull mask and will be at the front of the march next to the person in the Mascot costume OR may be holding the banner
-There will be blood for those who are open to wearing it on their hands (depends how cold it will be that day)
-Chants will be provided at a later time
Any questions please feel free to message on here or you can message Sally Diane or myself 🙂
The last Toronto anti-fur march was 3 years ago, so its time to put this back on the map and speak up for these innocent animals.
Together we can abolish the fur industry!
Info about the Fur Industry
Every year, more than two million animals (mostly minks and foxes) are intensively confined on factory fur farms in Canada. These animals are killed for their fur, which is sold to the fashion industry.
Fur farmed animals are kept in tiny enclosures, often without adequate access to food, water, space and veterinary medical care. These animals are prevented from engaging in important natural behaviors such as roaming, burrowing and being with their families. These conditions cause serious psychological distress and physical self harm such as chewing off their own limbs as an act of desperation. Farmed foxes are usually killed by anal electrocution and farmed minks are typically killed by gassing with carbon monoxide. Other barbaric methods that have been investigated heavily is by method of being skinned alive or clubbed to death.
With the rise of Canada Goose in the last few years, the slaughter of coyotes is staggering as sales are on the rise. In the wild, Coyotes are caught in leg hold traps that severly crush their limbs until the hunter is dispatched to slaughter them.
These animals are stripped of their right to live due to greed and fashion. In 2016 this is what is happening and this is where it needs to end.
