Stop Sled Dog Cruelty

Something terrible is happening to dogs right now in Ontario.

Disturbing new video footage shot outside of a sled dog facility shows about 200 dogs tied to short chains outdoors in almost 40 degree weather. These dogs have only plastic barrels for shelter and no relief from the scorching summer heat.

This is how the sled dog industry treats its dogs.

When sled dogs aren’t being used to pull sleds, they live outside at the end of a chain. Dogs are denied the ability to play and socialize, and must eat, sleep and eliminate in the same small area.

TAKE ACTION
Extreme weather is dangerous for pets—which is why animal care experts encourage Canadians to keep pets indoors when conditions can pose a risk. But the sled dog industry is unregulated, and leaves dogs outdoors 24/7, even in harsh temperatures.

It’s unacceptable that in Ontario and most provinces, it’s legal to keep dogs chained outdoors.

This will be our initial dog sledding event. There will be more to come

This is an informative demonstration in front of the Eaton’s centre Sunday Aug 5. There will be a bigger action at another time.
