Toronto: Stand Up for Animals Exploited & Killed by Canada Goose

Please join local activists in protesting the use of animals in fashion outside Canada Goose’s head quarters during the company’s virtual shareholder meeting. The Canada Goose symbol is ubiquitous in cold climates, but it represents anything but warmth. The fur trim that lines the hoods of the company’s winter jackets comes from wild coyotes who were trapped, killed, and skinned. A PETA eyewitness exposé of a Canada Goose down supplier reveals that workers rounded up panicked geese, grabbing and carrying them by the neck, as they struggled with their entire weight hanging from their necks, and crammed them into densely packed cages for transport to slaughter. Please join us for a very important and spirited demonstration to speak out against Canada Goose’s use and abuse of geese and coyotes for their outerwear.

Canada Goose misleads the public by claiming that the birds it uses for down get freedom from fear, pain, distress, and physical discomfort. The company tells customers that it is “deeply committed” to the “ethical sourcing of all animal materials”—but it’s a lie. Posters and leaflets will be provided. Note that reserved parking will not be available, and please be prepared for the weather. Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals as well as meet local advocates, so before you go, check out PETA’s outreach tips [http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/tips_for_PETA_activists.pdf] and be sure to invite others. All materials will be provided, so please just bring along as many friends and family members as you can.
